Two weeks since we got this girl across the @santarosamarathon finish line with her BQ at 3:33:18. We’ve been chasing this goal since 2018. Countless sweat and tears, aches and pains, highs and lows, and it was all worth it. Couldn’t be prouder of @puma1315 for pushing through all these years. You’re a Boston Qualifier, Alicia. 💙💛🦄

One month ago, I completed the 128th Boston Marathon. It was an incredibly memorable race, not only because it was Boston, but also for what I overcame. In November, I had a serious cycling accident that left me disabled for nearly two months. Come February, I wasn’t even sure if I would make it to the starting line, let alone the finish line. With only ten weeks to go from couch to marathon, it felt like a long shot. But if I’ve learned anything about myself from not just one but two debilitating injuries in 2024, it’s that I am resilient AF. So I laced up my running shoes and got straight to training, hoping that I would become a Boston Marathon finisher once again.
As race day approached, I reminded myself that the entire reason I wanted to do Boston a second time was to have a more enjoyable experience than the first. My injury forced me to do just that. I had no other choice but to let go of any and all expectations and accept that just being there was enough after all my mind and body had been through.
On race day, I took it all in, even the beer 🍻, and though it was a hot and tough day for a marathon, I crossed that finish line with a time of 3:55:13 and a smile on my face. A month later, I find myself emotional yet again thinking about what I endured and the people who helped me along the way. None of this would have been possible without my husband @johnburrowsracing , @milestonerunning friends and @nohandswednesday cycling crew. You all stepped up and truly epitomized the word ‘community’ in more ways than you know. In every stride, the Boston Marathon exemplifies a spirit of resilience and community unlike any other race, and this year’s event was no exception. 💙💛
Today, we celebrate ten years. So much has changed in the last decade, but one thing has always remained constant throughout our relationship. Our love for experiencing life’s adventures together. This year was no different, full of biking, travels and Barley; I wouldn’t have it any other way. Cheers to many more decades to come. 🍻
#latergram per usual but can’t think of a better way to wrap up 32 than running a beautiful marathon with the bestest running partners @banumpkin@puma1315 . It was so touch and go of whether I would be able to run it due to a bad burn injury, which caused me to miss the last few weeks of training. I really didn’t know if I was going to be healed enough to run any of it let alone finish, so to cross the finish line with these ladies in 3:41 was such a big feat. Bonus, we got Alicia a PR and one step closer to BQ. So proud of you for pushing through it all @puma1315 ! We’ll get it next time!
Completing a half Ironman has been on my bucket list for many years. Fortunately, I was able to check that off the list on April 1, 2023 at @ironmantri Oceanside 70.3. ✅
From the rainy winter that led to minimal training to the brutal side cramp for the majority of the race, Oceanside really challenged me both mentally and physically in ways I wasn’t sure I could overcome. Proud to say that I did make it across that finish line AND with a smile on my face in a time of 5:53:09. Finisher would not have been possible if it weren’t for the amazing communities that helped me get there: @milestonerunning@sandiegotrackclub@triclubsandiego@rouleurnorthpark@nohandswednesday@sandiegovelodrome .
