A month ago today I became a mom and WOW. If I wasn’t with enamored with women already- buckle. up. because creating a brand new soul inside of my own body and then releasing him into this universe from some portal within me has only solidified my belief that women (and birthing parents) are not only strong as hell but also a little magic.
And though all I want to do is skip over the gory details and simply post a picture of my ADORABLE new baby (believe me. I want to…he is RULLY adorable)- I would be remiss if I didn’t use this opportunity to share honestly
This pregnancy was easier than most and STILL: I coughed up blood, fainted with my eyes open, puked uncontrollably, got carpal tunnel & gestational diabetes, (Not to mention the last pregnancy almost killed me)
This BIRTH was easier than most and STILL made me face my two biggest fears: 1. needles (so many needles you guys) and 2. being awake during major surgery (I can’t even watch the Pitt) …they cut through 7 layers of my body and yanked this breached baby out of me SO HARD that I was literally lifted off the table. 😬
I tell you all this because pregnancy and childbirth is beautiful and powerful and also claustrophobic and scary as hell. Not only do I have the utmost respect for anyone who has experienced pregnancy (especially pregnancy loss) but I also have even more conviction in my passion for reproductive rights because NO PERSON should be pregnant without choosing to be.
Anyway: action items
1. vote pro choice candidates every time.
2. Call your mother and tell her thank you.

My sister deserves every happiness this world has to offer. She is the most resilient, whimsical, fierce and empathetic human and I am so grateful the universe has conspired to give her a partner, family and celebration worthy of her big beautiful heart!
