Meet Sam! The voice behind Highrider. In Sam’s words “sometimes the best way to escape the everyday chaos we live in, is to jump into the car, blast your favorite track, roll the windows down and drive into the night. Still so proud of this record and the role I got in creating it ❤️ From pre-producing the songs together in my studio in Den Dolder to making it into a fully produced record with @alichant in his studio in Bristol, @niklas.lueger engineering his socks off (even when the fire alarm went off. He just kept tweaking that 500Hz on bass amp mic). I’ve got so many great memories of recording in Bristol… Live tracking all the bass together with @mattbrowndrums.6161 on drums. Ordering so much Indian with @joristamschrijft & @robinkester we could’ve fed the rest of the city as well. Early mornings with Adriaan at the kitchen table, him sweating over the Wordle, me sweating of the guitar parts we were gonna record that day. And then the memories just kept pilling up: Playing these songs live all over the UK. Playing these songs live all over NL. Hearing them back on KEXP, BBC6, NPO3fm, Radio2. And listening to this record is one thing, but reading about this record is a whole other thing… Volkskrant, NRC, OOR, the eindejaarslijstjes, etc., etc… Anyway, biggest s/o to Robin ❤️ this all wouldn’t exist without her! Did my taxes for Q1, now it’s time to talk about the music that came out in Q1: 1. 💐 2. @robinkester ‘s Departure. First single from her second album, recorded @alichant ‘s studio in Bristol. Fun times playing bass and guitars and some additional producing. 3. @prizecollectmusic new single The Distance. Bit of an evolution in sound, which will be rolled out over many more tracks this year. Co-produced and mixed! 4. @nieuwegezichtenmuziek w/ @northstarrunner – great song, deep lyrics, Bo’s voice ❤️. Produced and mixed. 5. @maidarosemusic 2nd album. The Maida Rose songs and sounds by @roosmroosm , @javierdenleeuw , @anneliekeheusinkveld . I had the honor to add some guitars to it. 6. De F*ckulteit all music by @annelottecoster & @merlijnsnitker . Somewhere hidden in all that music are some of my guitars.
