Tradition never interested me when I was young. But the years have soften my stoney view of the ancient parts of my home country. England has churches the feel as old as the landscape, but older still is the pagan music which became our carols.
 In The Bleak Midwinter was originally a poem penned circa 1872, and today is one of our most beloved carols. No matter how far away I feel from my country, this song will always have me pining for some imagined shared past of Christmas in England, and a proper roast dinner by the pub fire.

Here in Berlin, where the winters are the bleakest, I recorded this version and nine other traditional carols alongside @lotta_st_joan for @sonotonmusic Pre-save the single - link in bio ❄️
