We truly explored wit and wonder through Samuel Gray and Benjamin Nylander’s Sunday program, “Comedy & Reverie.” ✨ 🎭 🌙

A program so nice we’re doing it twice! 🎭🎻 This time, we invite our friends across the Hudson to join us in Teaneck, NJ for “Comedy & Reverie”. Many thanks to @puffinculturalforum for inviting us to present this program in their classical music series.
Enjoy this excerpt from the Romanze in Carl Reinecke’s “Drei Phantasiestücke“ (“Three Fantasty Pieces”), which will close Thursday’s program. The spirit of this piece embodies the elation and ethereality one may experience from a really good dream. ✨
Our Lenten Classical Concert Series brings three extraordinary chamber music performances to the chapel stage, each offering a distinct and compelling musical journey. Hear the Ivalas Quartet in Maverick Voices, pairing Beethoven’s monumental String Quartet No. 13 with a transcultural work blending Persian melody and African rhythms. Experience the acclaimed cello and guitar duo Boyd Meets Girl in Present Tense, an intimate program that bridges classical masterworks and contemporary song, culminating in Radiohead’s haunting reflection. And delight in the color and contrast of Sam Gray and Ben Nylander’s Comedy & Reverie, a virtuosic violin, viola, and piano recital that moves from playful brilliance to lyrical depth.
If you love world-class chamber music performed up close in an intimate setting, this series was designed for you. Get tickets at the link in our bio!

“Comedy and Reverie” explores wit and wonder through a vibrant program of selections for violin, viola, and piano. The comic irony of Korngold’s Much Ado About Nothing, Schumann’s erratic Märchenbilder, and Lalo’s wild Arlequin conjure up images of an ensemble of stock characters, fairy tales, and fantasies.
Behind these masks of performance lie the dreamy, introspective musings of Debussy, Chausson, and Reinecke, a sharp contrast to their extroverted counterparts, and a window into the source of creativity. As a whole, these works weave together a vivid tapestry of humor, performativity, and poetry.
It’s Christmas every day now.🎄🎻 I am very grateful to be in the orchestra for The Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes this season. Come see a show if you can!
