I love you all so much! My deepest and most sincere thank you to everyone who’s sat in my chair 💕 You all mean the absolute world to me and these last 18 years have just flown by. If I keep writing anymore it’s going to sound like a eulogy lol. Swipe to the end to see where it all began!
If you’re looking for ways to help out during the SNAP disruption, I did my best to put some simple ideas together, including accounts that post and share a wealth of resources and information. Additionally, the link in my profile is a slowly growing collection of websites where people can learn how to do more than what I’ve shared here, and information on how to access help and support.
Based on my own lived experience, I know that food insecurity is one of the most significantly under-addressed issues that communities face. Many of these groups I’ve shared exist to help people gain access to food and I firmly believe that breaking people’s food insecurity is the biggest step to any radical change.
It’s important we all do our best to show up in some way for those in our communities who are especially vulnerable right now, and to help those who are directly affected so they don’t have to carry it all on their own. No one’s expecting anyone to do it all or have all the answers, but making a conscious effort to be present (even in small ways!) can make a lasting difference.
Something a bit different to close the year — hastily crocheted this cubby little pigeon for the fan-based art project “A Thousand is a Lot” to submit before the December 31 deadline. Titled: “All Merino, No Gall;” and she is, in fact, indescribably soft. Equipped with an eyepatch and a wig modeled after the likeness of Prince. Not even kidding it was the most technically challenging hair I’ve ever done but it was so, so worth it. Thank you to all of the other artists who worked so hard on this project, and especially @athousandisalot and staff for coordinating and making such a massive undertaking a reality 🕊️
