Hampi Art Labs | Sameep Padora and Associates | Toranagallu
Hampi Art Lab is inspired by the riverine landscape of the Tungabhadra and her gentle sculpting of the surrounding hill, the project is rooted in a central ‘space of flows’ through which people access the property. The landscape design echoes this material approach with paths of stabilized pebbles, recycled stone mosaics, and local planting from the region. @sameeppadora has been selected as a RIBA International Awards Ambassador for 2026. Organized by the Royal Institute of British Architects, the awards recognize outstanding buildings worldwide that demonstrate excellence across the entire design process—from visionary concepts to the precision of their material realization. As part of this role, he will join a distinguished group of 27 ambassadors representing 17 countries, together, the ambassadors will visit shortlisted projects and participate in an in-depth evaluation process that highlights and celebrates groundbreaking architecture from around the world.
(Post 3/3): At the IIT Bombay hostel our proposal uses the modular potential of the cellular residential unit and aggregates it over the older buildings footprint. At Conscious Collective, Sameep Padora reimagines sustainability as spatial intelligence, where air moves freely, shade becomes comfort, and social life unfolds within climate-responsive design.
Drawing from projects like Aatam Hostel, Jetavan, and Hampi Art Labs, he reflects on learning from traditional elements such as chhatris and jalis, using courtyards, openness, and the stack effect to bring temperatures down.
Not sustainability as an add-on, but as instinct.
Where material, form, and climate come together to create spaces that are cooler, quieter, and deeply rooted in context.

Predetermined Form at the Qatar National Museum in Doha by Jean Nouvel. Desert rose inspired interlocked curved planes create shaded spaces and openings. Besides formal patterning there are interesting details of constrained mullion sizes compensated by triple laminated glass supports as well as flooring and signage systems.
Administration building Recessed Light Section. The Lantern section allows diffused refracted natural light ingress within the deepest part of the building plan. The disconnection between two adjacent roof geometries conceals the source creating an atmospheric lightness.
The donut form of the community center is an outcome of building around a grove of mango trees. The programs within the community center itself range from large badminton halls to small rooms for rent. The dramatically varying scales of the programs are articulated by a geometry modulated through folds and deviations in their pitch.
Discover how design, climate responsibility, and human comfort intersect in this insightful conversation as our main man Hrishi K sits down with Henry Skupniewicz (Head, Godrej Design Lab), Sameep Padora (Founder, Sameep Padora and Associates), and Tejashree Joshi (Head – Environmental Sustainability, Godrej Enterprises Group). 🌿✨ Together, they explore how Godrej is reimagining comfort for a hotter world, the mission of the Conscious Collective, and the evolving role of urban spaces in shaping well-being. From fostering climate-responsible cooling to embracing circular thinking, the panel dives deep into the shifts industries must make to create sustainable, people-centric environments. 🌍♻️
