I made an In Focus on The Magnetic Fields, a band I love so very dearly. It came out on Friday & is up on the @nts_radio archive now.
The episode is a 50 song, 2 hour mix split into 10 simple parts. Hour one consists of songs about love, horniness and heartbreak. Hour two is about not doing things, religion, dancing, geography, the moon, Judy Garland and rodeos.

Listening to the three of them talk about their complicated relationships to folk music as queer people and the history of queer folk music in the UK was amazing and I left every interview feeling giddy. There is something magic about connecting with the stories of queer people from the past. Most of us don’t have queer elders in our lives but if you look (just a little bit) their stories are part of our folk culture
