ok. here comes the sappy spiel i wrote 8 MONTHS AGO 😭😭😭 in january, i went to NYC for the dimension 20 live show. i love d20, but this was really just an excuse to finally meet up with online friends for the first time. i ended up on a month long trip to paris, toronto, raleigh, ann arbor, new york, and LA, meeting up with friends who i’d known for 5 years (or longer!), who i’d called and had movie nights with every other week since 2020, but who i never got to meet in person until now. and it was probably the best time i’ve ever had in my life YIPPEE!!!!
i dont post a lot about fandom stuff here (bc it’s embarrassing LOL) but fan-communities are a huge part of my life and creative drive. and while online friendships tend to come and go, so many of you stuck around and became my closest friends. making art with you all has been the best and i wouldn’t be who i am today without it.
i was gonna have a bit here where i listed everyone that i met but i no joke got 30 names in and decided that was corny af SORRY 😭 i didn’t realise just how many of you i’d gotten to meet irl for the first time! i love and miss you all!!! thank you eames my partner in crime for letting me stay in your apartment and saving me $1k in nyc room prices! thank you diane for contacting ur family when i lost my wallet in ontario 😭 thank you faust for giving me a truly unhinged amount of art prints to carry back down under. thank you everyone who came to CALROY MEET-UP!!! i was feeling so melancholy in my last night in new york, wishing it could last forever, but i keep going back to what mirza shouted to me over the deafening music of a nyc gay bar when i told them as much: “nothing’s changed!”
and it’s true! i’m still talking to you guys all the time, i’m still creating incredible things with you all, we’re still as close as ever a million miles apart. and i will see you all again one day, i know.
