Noise Complaint (as i am, anyway) I had the incredible opportunity this semester to share a new work in the 2026 production of Open Space. This work is about learning how to live one’s life for themself. In a world that, from the moment you are born, is constantly telling you who you are and who you should be, how do you realize that you can be who you want to be, let alone fight to get there? Unbecoming and becoming. Loathing and loving. Knowing and unknowing. Hiding and being seen. Everyone has put on a facade at one point or another to feel more accepted in this world. There is both an internal and external battle of wanting to take this facade off and be authentically yourself, while knowing how deeply terrifying it is to truly be seen as who you are. To be loud in a world that tells you to be quiet. To break character from the person everyone else wants you to be. To be different from what is found acceptable and polite. To my cast, thank you will never be enough. You are some of the strongest and gentlest women I have ever known. You are brave, intelligent, beautiful, and your hard work is unwavering even in the hardest of moments. I hope this work has helped you to remove your mask as all of you have helped me to remove mine. I hope you have felt truly seen as I have felt truly seen by all of you. Please never stop being yourselves, never stop being loud, never stop taking up space, and never stop fighting against the patriarchy. IT’S YOUR LIFE! and don’t you ever forget that! Hi friends!! I have something exciting to share! I am hosting a dance workshop one week from today! The workshop is going to be held on Friday, May 2nd from 10am – 4pm at the University of Colorado Boulder, Theatre and Dance Building Room W350. I want to host this workshop to just have fun and celebrate movement, ourselves, and each other! I’m calling it the Summer Celebration Dance Workshop! EVERYONE and ALL levels are invited, welcome, and encouraged to come! We would LOVE to see you there! It’s going to be a great time of just moving and grooving together and cheering each other on! We want to foster building community and connecting with others, artistry and individuality, having FUN, and cultivating a safe, noncompetitive, noncomparative space where everyone feels welcome, valued, seen, celebrated, and encouraged! It’s going to be a great time with a variety of different classes and teachers! In addition to myself, Devon Beckum and Joe Van Gilder will be teaching classes! “SITUATION” This is a collaborative work created and danced by myself and @gabi.marranzino at FRESH! We created this work for the purpose of having fun and making cool moves together! It’s a culmination of all of the love, fun, friendship, connection, excitement, frustration, and hard work we spent on this work for the three weeks we had to start and finish it. Gabi and I had SO MUCH FUN creating, practicing, and performing these moves, living our best intergalactic, space robot, matrix, multidimensional lives!
