The War on Style (full film) is out now – Awarded jury’s pick at the 2024 iF3 Festival, the film explores the differences between technical mastery and self-expression through the unique mind of freeskier @hankbilous . From late night creative zoom meetings to touring the film throughout Australasia, the journey has been one I’ll never forget. It was a true reward and honour to be given the creative freedom and opportunity to write / produce the score for the film. Alongside talented director @chrismaunsell and the wise words and movements of Hank, the visual / audio combo has a meaningful delight throughout. The North Face Presents ‘The War on Style’ on 2 October at the Pav 🌊 Join us for the screening of this film that will be presented by @hankbilous and @thenorthface_aunz featuring a live performance from @sam_wave_ ✨ After competing on the Freeride World Tour, and transitioning into a new career in nursing, Hank Bilous brings us an exposé into the relationship between different passions, the skillsets behind them, and the self-expression that mastery of them allows. In his directorial and producing debut, Hank adds a couple more qualifications to his quiver: skier, surfer, writer, nurse–now director and producer. The War on Style opens the lid on Bilous’ creative mind–exploring the difference between technical skills and self- expression by applying these concepts to his familiar and unfamiliar worlds of skiing, surfing, nursing, skateboarding and more. I love this one - another Machine Elf creation in 360 (VR compatible) with stunning visuals from @treyratcliff . When I produced this score I called it ‘Plato’s Retreat’. For me it felt like a space where a philosopher would go to rest his or her mind. Since then we licensed the creation to our good friends @trippvr who quickly noticed a name change needed… turns out ‘Plato’s Retreat’ was a thriving swingers club in New York in the 70’s and 80’s 🧖🏼 Enjoy and interact - Link in bio : )
