It’s a real pleasure to announce that “Birds Reworks” will be released on May 30th. Co-produced with Saint-Martin Bookshop, the project reimagines my track “Birds” through four different acts, each one unfolding a new layer of the original piece. Working with Saint-Martin Bookshop on this release felt natural from the very beginning — a shared sensitivity towards sound, objects and narrative quietly shaped the work, as if an invisible thread quietly held everything together. The EP also draws inspiration from the poetry of Aldo Tambellini, a long-standing influence on my artistic practice. The track titles are derived from Listen – Selected Poems 1946–2016, a publication that continues to inspire my creative process. SAM SALA [live] @sam_sala joins URBAPHONIA 2026 with a practice shaped by cyclical rhythm, audiovisual research, and close attention to the fragile thresholds between natural and urban environments. In his debut album ‘Diathomee’, sound and visual language unfold from the image of diatoms — microscopic algae whose forms and movements become a conceptual ground for hypnotic structures, environmental interconnectedness, and multisensory narration. From this imagery, his work builds a space where perception, residue, and transformation remain in active relation. BIRDS [OFFICIAL VIDEO] DIRECTED BY @tom.tagliaferri FULL VIDEO ON @lampoonmagazine “Birds” is released in collaboration with Lampoon Magazine, which premieres the official video alongside an in-depth interview by @melisozek The track and its visual unfold as a reflection on the duality of nature — a recurring element in my work. The video, filmed entirely underwater in a lake, reveals a space that feels calm and inviting on the surface, yet hides unpredictable and potentially dangerous depths beneath. A suspended environment where beauty and threat coexist. The concept is rooted in a personal memory: my grandfather once survived a whirlpool in that same lake, pulled to safety at the last possible moment. This experience became the emotional core of Birds, shaping both its sonic and visual language. The track moves through states of tension, unease, and vulnerability, mirroring the psychological space between fear and surrender. Despite this darkness, Birds carries a title charged with hope. There is an ending — a rescue, a resurfacing. Like emerging from the water, breathing again, and slowly reconnecting with the surrounding natural soundscape. In contrast to drowning, there is flight. A gesture toward salvation, freedom, and release.
