The Sichuanese believe that eating chillies and Sichuan peppercorn helps keep your spirits up through bleak, damp winters. Chengdu’s winters arguably suck even more than London’s: so if we helped even a little, that’s a win.

The time has finally come.
After many late nights balancing flour and water ratios, countless chilli oil tastings, and theory classes puzzling over how many words Chinese has for “cut” (at least nine…), Mànmànlái is ready(-ish…) to officially hit the streets, pub tables, and festivals of the UK.
The fun begins this weekend at @brookgreenmarket on Saturdays and @fulhamfarmersmarket on Sundays.
We couldn’t have asked for a more welcoming community to start the London leg of our journey.
