First big kitchen garden dish of the year. It warms the heart to see it. Can't wait for folk to eat it. A flatbread featuring kitchen garden grown cima di rapa, dill, radish, nasturtians, coriander, mustard, salad leaves.
Much appreciated asparagus from @rectoryfarmpyo The game of growing, cooking, eating. Its all bloody magic @peterleymanorfarm
A week ago today we were into our third hour of the Dartmoor Marathon, the forecast of rain and wind had not come to pass and the moor was looking spectacular. Thank you to my fellow runners and our amazing support crew. And thank you to all who donated to @endometriosis.uk you've raised over 1k for a great charity. Justgiving page will remain open until end of the month . Link in bio.
Running my first marathon on my 36th birthday with such lovely people was phenomenal; a great distance in life is covered simply by falling forwards repeatedly and with intention eh?
Until we meet again you darned hills.
A week in media.
Slide 1. Growth is a uniquely dangerous process requiring breakage, searching, reaching and transformation
Slide 2. Sometimes desire for the material will lead to spiritual destruction
Slide 3. The greatest burdens we carry are born from the things required to sustain life (and isn't it nice the lady birds are back
Slide 4. Our window box is flexing 💪 @seedy_hol
Sowing season is very much underway with our first big planting of Broad Beans. Seeing as these beans would be the first sowing and first harvest from the new kitchen garden we though it would only be right to get as many people from across the Peterley family to sow a few, that way when we look out at the green stalks growing we'll know everyone contributed to the first harvest. Its lovely bringing people together from all walks of life, professions and ages to garden because it brings something out of us; happiness, serenity, even manic rage sometimes! 😅 A lovelier bunch of bean planters I could not ask for!
The beans in question are Elenora, Ratio and Super Aqua Dulce.

BRAND SPANKING NEW HEATED BENCH INSTALL!
In some respects nothing is more important to long seasonal kitchen gardening than being able to generate bottom heat for your plants. A few degrees extra of warmth directed straight up into your seedlings bottom can be the difference between defeat and success. And its wonderful to be in a buisness that takes growing seriously and will invest in the right kit 🥰
Let the growing season begin! And may our plants have warmer bums than our have been these last few months 🥶

Vegetable sowing season has begun on the farm. Sowing three lovely varieties of onion sets here into modules. They'll root down and shoot up in the trays and be ready to crack on once we get them in the first veg beds we build out in the new kitchen garden. Its a great way to get ahead of the season!
The varieties are Snowball, a beautifull thinner skinned onion, pure white with sweet flesh. A Rosanne pink onion, not dissimilar to the Rose de Roscoff (which I couldn't get hold of...) and a Red Baron onion another lovely salad onion.
Forgive the editing, feeling rusty on the old reel making since its been a quiet winter. Fresh updates coming soon on the new vegetable garden!
My thought are with you veg lovers. Keep faith. The spring is coming!

Hello and Happy New Year you fine young animals.
On April 12th 2026 I am going to run my first marathon and raise some money for @endometriosis.uk the Dartmoor Marathon is back and sponsored by @flapjackery so I will be in reciept of a free flapjack upon completion (this will be the only thing not donated to charity). If you'd like to contribute please see my JustGiving page in story highlights!
Endometriosis is a deeply complex and painful gynaecological chronic illness suffered by about 1.5 millions in the UK alone. It is misunderstood, misdiagnosed and missed by employers of woman. Struggling in silence is maybe one the of the worst pains, this coupled with the pain of the ailment itself is a horrifying existence. EndometriosisUK aim to raise money to support women with endo and support the study of endometriosis itself.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION ON THIS MATTER. THE OFFICE OF SAM FREDERICK TAYLOR.
Beetroot, beetroot, beetroot. What a versatile, colourful, clever vegetable! A late harvest sown in late, late, late July! And yet many fat healthy roots to harvest. Crammed with the glutamate an amino acid that gives us umami! The deep earthy aroma and flavour that summons us down into our roots. Boltardy purple, golden globe and chioggia candy striped varities all being pickled, baked into tarts or sold fresh as the day they were picked. Heck yeah!

Lots of different salad mixes coming out of the polytunnel at the moment. Not bad for seeds sown in mid August! We have the delicate Lettuce Albabionda, Red Streak Asian Mustard, Peashoots, Radish, Wasabina (a wasabi flavoured mustard), Coriander and lots of really gorgeous flower petals from Dahlia, Dianthus and Chrysanthemum. Its fresh as af, grown in just compost, soil and water; bringing flavour and colour to dishes galore.
Its a real pleasure to have gotten such a juicy harvest going so close to the 'end' of the season and even more so to be working with folks who want to cook it, sell or munch it.
Harvesting L*** C****, C******** and candy stripe B******* soon!
Planting G***** soon too.

POLY TUNNEL TRANSFORMATION SUPERCUT
14.7.25 - 14.9.25
Gardening is about transformation and change. 'But isn't everything?', I hear you say. Well yes reality is always trying on a new pair of trousers but the pace of change and our relationship to change in gardening is uniquely manifest in nature. Transformation is acted out and imposed upon us in a direct, vivid and uncompromising way. Its not the change itself but the quality of the change that makes gardening really bloody great!
