I enjoy collaborating with artists who specialize in drawing and painting more than I do. For this exhibition, I asked Iris to create drawings that are now fused onto these new darkroom prints on decades-old paper.
It was fun to put things that are so important to me in someone else's hands and see how they interpret them.

The end of summer. All the tired and dead insects. I'm also hearing the geese fly over my roof. The forest changes so quickly from green to red to brown. I'm collecting all the little memories of summer. The husks and shards of the sticky heat. It's time to hide under the warm leaves and See what the darkness of the next month will bring.

I think about the word ‘yearning’ again, that nothing that feels less sometimes feels like nothing at all. I want to make every decision and every step out of the feeling and desire for more. Wanting to drown in what I yearn for. More time, more art, more love, more earth under my feet. Nevertheless, I don't leave my house every day, I don't leave my bed every day. But with spring comes that feeling for more.

Sam Evans (*1995) lebt und arbeitet in Deutschland. Ihre Arbeit bewegt sich zwischen Fotografie, Video und installativen Ansätzen. Sie beschäftigt sich mit der Beziehung von Körper und Natur, mit Erinnerungen, Identität und Materialität. Dabei setzt sie analoge Techniken, handkolorierte Fotografien und experimentelle Druckverfahren ein, um Bilder zu schaffen, die zwischen Dokumentation und Fiktion oszillieren.

Für Make Me Water nähert sie sich Wasser als lebender Masse – als Archiv, das speichert, verwischt und transformiert. Ihre großformatigen Fotografien sind in Kontakt mit Wasser entstanden, sei es in der Entwicklung oder durch direkte physische Prozesse. So entstehen Arbeiten, die sich zwischen Klarheit und Auflösung bewegen – Erinnerungen, die auftauchen und wieder verschwinden.
