Do you ever find yourself working away in your home studio wishing there was someone nearby to bounce ideas off, share wins with, or simply enjoy the creative process alongside? Because honestly… same. As someone who absolutely thrives around people, I know how important connection can be, especially when so many of us are creating quietly on our own. Lately, I’ve had more and more people reaching out asking how they can become part of my printmaking community, and it really got me thinking. Maybe what we all need is a warm, welcoming space where creatives can come together regularly, encourage one another, share knowledge, ask questions, celebrate progress, and stay connected through the joy of printmaking. A safe and supportive little corner of the world where everyone is welcome, whether you’re brand new, finding your confidence again, or already deep in your creative practice. Because creativity flourishes in community. So if this sounds like something your heart has been craving, make sure you follow my account because really soon, I will be launching a new print platform. If you want to know more, send me a DM. I’d absolutely love to chat and help get you connected.

Clearly, the algorithm has decided this post deserves to live in the shadows, so I’m just going to assume no one has seen it. Which is mildly hilarious given I’m apparently sitting here wondering why things aren’t selling… when in reality I’m just quietly co-existing with a rather large stash of my self-published cards in the studio, waiting for someone to notice they exist. So let’s try this instead: Pop 2 x packs of 6 cards into your cart, and I’ll throw in an extra 6-pack for free. Consider it a gentle nudge (and a slightly desperate studio clear-out strategy). I need the space, and honestly… I’m not doing markets anymore (deep sigh), so this is me leaning into the digital void. Tag your mates who you know would be the type to quietly hoard a beautiful stack of greeting cards and then pretend they’ve “always been meaning to send them”… Because clearly I’ve done an excellent job of hiding these away in plain sight. Quick heads-up: this bonus 6-pack situation has a very short attention span. It’ll vanish either when the stock does, or when the calendar rolls over to next month, whichever happens first. After that, I’ll be off in some new creative rabbit hole and will have entirely erased all memory of this ever existing.

I find it amusing that you sit here and wonder why something isn't selling - they always used I was telling myself. But if I don't tell people that I have 10 million of these self-published cards sitting in my warehouse, then how the hell are you supposed to know? How about this - you stick x2 packs of 6 in your cart, and I'll toss in another 6-pack just to get rid of them. I need the storage and well... I'm not doing markets anymore (oh the pain) and well... Tag all your friends who you think would love a bunch of really lovely greeting cards that I forgot to promote. *The extra 6-pack will last as long as I have the cards and maybe for the rest of the month. Because let's face it, come June, I will have some new shiny thing that I will be focusing on and clean forget I had this promo up online.

It’s interesting how life quietly places gifts in your hands when you’re deep in grief. Last October was an incredibly hard season for our family. As the first Mother’s Day approaches without a deeply significant woman in my life, there’s a stillness sitting gently in our hearts and home. Those who know me well also know how long her suffering had been, and how fiercely she carried herself through it all with stoic strength. During that time, I was gifted a commission of the beautiful Barossa Valley. So while I sat beside her bed, talking softly and listening to Elvis on repeat (her absolute favourite), I slowly worked on this very, very long lino block. There was something profoundly grounding about the process. The rhythm of carving. The focus of mark making. The way art asks your mind to soften for a while. Seeing the piece as a whole feels quietly cathartic. Knowing it now hangs framed in a home filled with love makes it even more special. This landscape is deeply personal to the family, the original home on the hill and those magnificent red gums standing proudly. Sometimes during the hardest chapters of life, creativity becomes a refuge. A place to rest your heart for a moment. A way to gently transport yourself somewhere lighter, calmer, more hopeful. At the end of last year, I truly leaned into my art practice to help heal my aching heart. And there is real truth in that healing. Studies continue to show that creating with our hands can calm the nervous system, reduce stress hormones, improve mindfulness, and help process grief in ways words often cannot. Art gives us somewhere safe to place emotion. It allows us to slow down, breathe differently, and reconnect with ourselves. So if you needed a reminder today, this is it: It’s okay to disappear into creativity for a while. It’s okay to make things simply because it helps you feel whole again. Art has a quiet way of holding us together when life feels unbearably heavy. This particular print isn’t for sale, but I do have a small collection of mini test prints available on my website — tiny pieces from this larger work, each carrying its own little story. 💙S
