Mental Health Awareness Month feels like a good time to say this out loud. Not every hard day looks dramatic. I’m pretty good at putting on a fake smile and being known as someone who’s always in a good mood or having fun partying.
I think social media can make people feel like everyone else is handling life perfectly, when in reality a lot of us are just figuring it out day by day. Me included.
This isn’t a sympathy post and I definitely don’t have all the answers. I just know that the moments I’ve felt the least alone were when someone else admitted they were struggling too.
So if you’ve been anxious, burnt out, emotional, exhausted, numb, overthinking everything, or just not feeling like yourself lately…you are not the only one. And you do not have to earn rest or support by “having it worse” than someone else.
Be kinder to yourself. Check on your friends. Put the phone down. Go outside. Ask for help if you need it. Cry if you need to… Some of these I need to work on myself.
We’re all human before we’re curated versions of ourselves online 🤍
