“The ensemble played with passion and total confidence, displaying an affectionate musical camaraderie developed over a long period of performing together.”
We’re grateful for this beautiful review of Familiar | Forgotten | Fresh from San Francisco Classical Voice and Harlow Robinson, following our April 25 performance at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music.

There’s something special about a story told in more than one way at once.
On May 2, Salastina joins the Bob Baker Marionette Theater (@bobbakermarionettes ) for a joyful afternoon of live music and handcrafted puppetry. Ferdinand the Bull and Peter and the Wolf come to life on stage, surrounded by the magic of Bob Baker’s retro red theater.
Between stories: an instrument petting zoo. After: ice cream for everyone.
đź“… Three performances at 10:30 AM, 1:30 PM, and 4:30 PM.
✨ The 1:30 PM show features special guest narrator Rachel Bloom (@racheldoesstuff )

Three piano quintets. Three different moments in music history.
Piano Quintet in E-flat Major, Op. 44 brings the warmth and sweep we know and love, while Piano Quintet No. 2 in A minor offers a rare chance to hear a composer history nearly left behind. The program concludes with a world premiere by Composer Collective alum Nicholas Edwards (@nickedw88 ), connecting past and present in real time.

Some moments linger a little longer ✨
A few snapshots from our recent night at the Laguna Art Museum, with Maia Jasper White (@maiajasperwhite ), Yoshika Masuda (@yoshi.cello ), and HyeJin Kim(@i.m.hyejin ) in the glow of that beautiful space. Thank you to Thomas Emick (@eyeofemickphoto ) for capturing these.

Sunday at the William Turner Gallery was one of those afternoons where everything just locked in — the light, the room, the silence between phrases. Chamber music the way it’s supposed to feel: close enough to hear the grain of the bow.
If you were there, you know.
If you weren’t… we’re not done yet.
This weekend is your last chance to catch Main Series No. 4: Beethoven and Schubert. Warm gut strings and the rounded tough of the fortepiano. No glossy modern sheen, just the raw, warm, breathing sound world of Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Schubert the way they would have known it.
Friday, Feb 27 @ 7 PM | The Neighborhood Church of Palos Verdes Estates
Sunday, March 1 @ 3 PM | Barrett Hall at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music (+ livestream)
Two performances left. We would love to see you there.

There is something about Franz Schubert that just stays with you.
Last season’s Cello Quintet in C Major left us suspended in that uniquely Schubertian space — intimate, luminous, and achingly human. If you were there, you know. If you weren’t… here’s a glimpse.
This weekend, we return to that sound world for the final two performances of Main Series No. 4: Beethoven and Schubert — music as it might have been heard in its own time, before the concert hall, before the modern grand piano. Warm gut strings. Transitional bows. The round, responsive touch of a fortepiano.
On the program:
✨ Beethoven’s Sonata for Cello and Piano in A Major
✨ Beethoven’s “Spring” Sonata in F Major
✨ Schubert’s Piano Trio in B-flat Major
Two chances to join us:
📍 Friday, February 27 @ 7 PM
The Neighborhood Church of Palos Verdes Estates
📍 Sunday, March 1 @ 3 PM
Barrett Hall at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music (plus livestream)
There is nothing quite like hearing this music up close — breathing the same air, feeling the grain of the gut strings, the subtle colors of the fortepiano.
Come spend the weekend with us. Get tickets at or through the link in bio.

A clip of Franz Schubert: Cello Quintet in C major from Nov 9, 2024 at Westerbeck Recital Hall at the Pasadena City College.
Join us this month as we perform Schubert's Piano Trio in B Flat Major as Schubert himself might have heard it: with warm gut strings, responsive transitional bows, and a fortepiano’s round touch. Tickets and information at salastina.org
