“Kalasha” Ft/prod: @prod.roro out now🪷 Creative Direction/Cover Art: @safahussxin Written by me & Roro Coproduction: @prod_prophet Mixed/Mastered: @redwaterxo After meeting roro and prophet about a year ago, I’ve constantly wondered how I want to build my soundscape within bollytekk. I bring to you “kalasha”. A song that blends the ‘underground’ sound and raw ‘Kutu’ style South Indian drum. ‘Kalasha’ is formally known to mean “a complete vessel of something”. In regards to me and roro being centrepieces for ‘bollytekk’, comes the second meaning to this song- personally one of my favorites. The troubles of having melanated skin. Growing up brown is challenging. I would get judged for the food I ate, the clothing I wore, the languages I spoke; all due to the color of my skin. Overcoming these hardships and learning to love my skin has been an unforgettable and life changing journey of healing- one that I wish you may all experience. In terms of the visual aspects, I invited people close to me to be included to help illustrate this aspect of the songs meaning. The skin tones of different brown people shows the beauty of our skin and our culture. Overall, the meaning for this song is really glued to the album. You will have to listen to the album as a whole to really grasp all my intentions on how I take accountability for the girl I love and finally came to my senses, letting her know I will do whatever it takes to reconnect our bond. Finally, the cover art. This cover art is a depiction of roro and I sitting together at the centre of a vast yet dull landscape. Behind us are depictions of animals. The Elephant - signifying good luck, endurance, and protection. The Cobra - symbolizing mastery over fear and desire. These animals act as a means of protection and are representative of us. The contrast created between the landscape and the animals reflects a longing for spiritual awareness in the world around us. To be one of the third forerunners in Bollytekk pioneered by @onlyreesh means more to me than anything It’s my Vision , it’s my depiction of what the sound is this is one of them, this right here is one of the few tracks taken from my upcoming debut album “Masquerade,” that’s set to release in early 2026. In July, I suggested the sample to Roro, went over the main parts of the sample how I wanted it constructed, with the melody he had his own vision, but with this song I wanted to take a different new/approach to ‘Bollytekk,’ sampling Southern Indian vocals with cloud rap drums, and I am pleased that the final product worked just as I imagined. Initially the song had four different versions; after listening through each one I knew the fourth one was it. This version emits every representation I had in mind — it felt lucent, and like a breath of life. Huge thanks to @safahussxin and @redwaterxo no words can express my gratitude.
