I met Sam 6 years ago. He was the youngest member of the squad back then. He was the first person taught by Mang Encim, our current Captain, who also learned bootmaking from scratch.
Developing an artisan from zero was important if we wanted to make this tradition alive. The skills don’t have to stop in one hand, but need to continue and the person itself need to be able to pass it to another generation someday.

Playing with the color of flesh-side leather and matching it with the stitching color is fun. These Valiant Shorty also play with texture by combining domestic black tea-core with black rough-out, creating a subtle contrast.
Personally, this kind of make-up is my favorite. Quiet, but still has character. I never really like overly fancy stitching with loud contrast colors just to tell people “hey, this is handmade”. Sometimes less noise looks more elegant.

I love broguing on Valiant boots. It’s like adding fancy details to a heritage-inspired workboot. Combined with braided Norwegian Stormwelt Construction to hold the uppers and bottom sections together.

Resoling 12 years old boots.
Back then, the materials we used were not as good as what we have today. But still, it holds.
For this rebuild, we replace everything from welt to outsole.
New welt, new midsole, new outsole,
following our current standard.
Resole is not a simple process. It takes time, and it has to wait in line. But we appreciate those who choose to resole their boots.
Because some pairs are more than just boots.
We’ll do our best to preserve them properly.
