We choreographed this class over zoom and taught it together for the first time. When a lot of people think about hip hop music they think about profanity and sexual content so we wanted to bring this piece to class to open up some minds. Some of my favourite hip hop tracks are actually just about light hearted daily stuff and even romance.

I still remember bumping @iambohemia ‘s “Kali Denali” in my Abbu’s 1988 Toyota Corona in Qatar on a recorded cassette. The impact this music has had on my life and my career cannot be put into words. I am glad to call this amazing human an older brother. Thank you Paaji for paving the way for so many Desi MCs and Producers. Dance always starts at the music and that is what we like to do in our classes in the Bay Area📖.
