@saem.exe Samsmeep Singh aka saem.exe is an experimental electronic music artist who sees techno less as a genre and more as a method: reducing the material until it is essential - and then shaping it through timing, swing, pressure and restraint. It's these micro-decisions that turn a single electronic signal into something that moves bodies and captures attention. Berlin is the place where he learned to experience electronic music as physical architecture - sound as space, repetition as hypnosis, the dance floor as a feedback system. From there, his practice has opened outward: drawing underground energy from disparate places and histories—Japan's intense, forward-leaning club language and Detroit's machine-funk roots—and reassembling these influences into his own, ever-evolving sonic palette. For saem.exe, techno does not arise from “songs” or “moments”. It comes from groove: from immersion, shared movement, and the way subtle variation can stretch time without breaking the magic. This idea – groove as a physical and social phenomenon, not a hook – informs both his production and his performance intuition. Sound is only half the message. He consistently looks for ways to make music visible and interactive and builds audiovisual systems in which audio can drive the image - and the image reacts back like an instrument. With Ableton Live × TouchDesigner, he explores audio-reactive and interactive approaches to performance and installation - treating visuals not as decoration, but as another level of expression and control. 📀SUMMER EP remixed 04 "Riesenrad - @latchkey_kid_music Remix" This visual tracks the flow of the track by transforming the cover art into point clouds that convey tension like wind. Each particle “wind” inherits its color from the RGB data of the original art, as well as its native spatial origin. This mapping is achieved through Texture Operators (TOPs), which translate RGB into a full 3D scene. The motion comes alive via a particle system, leveraging the GPU for high-quality cache and seamless responsiveness. By embedding multiple noise sources in a feedback post-processing loop, the visual can respond dynamically—e.g., introduce a negative noise impulse when the kick drum hits, inverting expectations and revealing what lies in contrast. On the audio side, MIDI-controlled EQ filters in Ableton help define frequency constraints so that the particles stay coherent within the camera’s view. By combining two color gradients and converting them into a 3D representation, we introduce a sense of uncertainty in depth. Each RGB pixel’s data is processed through Texture Operators (TOPs) and visualized in a geometry scene, where lighting, camera angle, and motion can be fine-tuned. Its organic form “breathes” via feedback iterations and post-processing, allowing specific layers to pulsate. Each displaced point appears to strive to return toward the center, creating a dynamic tension throughout the entire form. In the audio domain, Ableton’s Grain Delay provides precise control over elements like the snare, while EQ filters help isolate and emphasize key frequencies. These audio manipulations inform the visual behavior—melding sound and image. 📀 SUMMER EP remixed 02 Call me Back - @strrumm remix This visual draws its inspiration from the modern sound design of the track, particularly how the kick, bass, and groove-oriented techno percussions interact and evolve together. The track’s refined automation allows the visual to take on a life of its own, shaping and reshaping itself in direct response to the sound. The process begins by introducing an Entity mesh and then deconstructing it using Particle Operators (POPs). By defining variables such as point movement, noise, color, size, and velocity, the structure gains multidimensional parameters that react in real time to the audio input. Through Material Operators (MATs), metallic textures are infused with both audio and noise-reactive qualities. Integrated into a 3D geometry scene, this creates an environmental map that gives the Entity space to evolve, breathe, and exist as a living entity. The trails left behind represent the evolution of the Entity—its transformation in sync with the track’s pace and rhythm. Subtle LFO modulations add a sense of levitation, making the form appear weightless and alive. Using Texture Operators (TOPs) such as Movie File In, various Noise types, and Feedback, a still image becomes both alive and unpredictable. With additional post-processing—including Blur and Edge Sharpening—the piece develops a burning illusion effect. Layering multiple feedback loops intensifies this sensation, creating depth as elements move forward and backward in sync with the audio input. The audio is driven by an input from Ableton Live, where, in Session View, mixing operators such as audio filters are applied on return tracks. These are then mapped to MIDI controls that communicate with TouchDesigner, using audio analyzers to enhance complexity and responsiveness. The resulting channels are linked to specific parameters in the TOP network, allowing the visuals to react precisely to MIDI data from Ableton — forming an immersive, audio-reactive experience.
