Happy Met Monday! While we take time to look back on the beautiful tailoring and style of Black men who defined Black dandy style throughout history let us not forget the Black masculine lesbians who played a pivotal role in shaping this style of dandysim (and also may have threw the first punch at stonewall). Love to Gladys Bentley and Stormé Delarverie 💌
Up on @forbes
Eid Mubarak for @voguemagazine I wrote briefly about the woven relationship between religion and clothes and talked to the 4 most stylish Muslims I know thank you to my editors and to my girls for talking to me You are just as big as 🌊and just as small as 💧
Only time I stood still was in March, stepped on the hardwood more times than I could count, started that column n did something for myself, hopped off boats off the coast of East Africa , refound my silly, watched basketball 15 x in person, 2x in the spa, and 3x on the plane, front page of Vogue more times than I remember, saw love in tiny corners, kept those who deserved it close, traveled out west n walked through the desert while listening to indigenous folklore, sat for 10+ hours to watch tennis, prayed in Eastern Europe, got paid to pray in Harlem for work, saw my prayers come into fruition every day!!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year: NBA SEASON🏀😝 For @voguemagazine I gave a little context about the history of the tunnel, what looks we’re seeing this season, and the best fits thus far. Thank you to all of the NBA PR + comms teams people for the outfit IDs @nba
And just like that.. the WNBA season has come to a close!! When I was writing out my initial 2025 goals list, the main goal I had was to do red carpet hosting for the draft. I would’ve never thought that initial article / social coverage would’ve led to a weekly column on WNBA tunnel fits, going to all-star weekend, being at a game every week, going inside the tunnel, and interviewing Angel Reese, Paige Bueckers, Sabrina Ionescu and so many more. I truly wear the badge of being the “WNBA girl” or “WNBA historian” to so many of my colleagues, friends and people who email me to do one off articles, with a lot of pride. Thankful to so many who have given me the opportunity to write about something I love.. basketball 🏀😋❤️
And thank you to the WNBA stylists who help me I.D. What’s going down the tunnel. Until next season 🫡🗽🏀
