[ About Sacha ]
Sacha Ouellet is an emerging 2-spirit multidisciplinary artist of Haida and French decent currently based on the traditional, unceded land of the səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Their background as a street-entrenched youth informs their current community-based art practice, providing disability-centred, culturally empowering art mentorship, facilitation, and access to art spaces and supplies for those who walk parallel paths and beyond.
Sacha is committed to co-creating grassroots supportive environments in the spirit of the lineage of relational art and community building that inspired them to transverse the same barriers faced by street level youth today. Sacha carries on the lessons their creative and cultural mentors instilled through empowering them to strengthen their self worth and align with their purpose as an artist, educator and activist. The work they do today is representative of a circle of reciprocity, to provide the same opportunities and support that they were imbued with, along with their own unique skills in hide tanning, writing and poetry, digital media, sound, beading and other culturally significant practices.

Through their participation in last year’s Electronic Music Incubator, Sacha expanded their creative toolkit and explored fresh approaches to production. We look forward to their next steps.
Applications for this year’s program open soon ! stay tuned for more information. ♪ ♫ ♬
