shot for my art thesis during my BFA studies. originally titled “wildflower”, now I have retitled it to “feelings of spring” as a companion to my other series, “feelings of summer”.
my grid is slowly becoming an ode to spring, a season not very loud in south florida but felt in my heart as a lover of colorful blooming flowers, animals and the idea of rebirth.
this photo is more about the emotion and nostalgic remembering of being among those flowers in bloom, their shadows dancing on your skin. there’s a hint of symbolism like a little nod of the implication of fertility in spring like so many renaissance paintings have before me. shot in an unmarked location somewhere in homestead years ago, lush greenery and wildflowers for miles…that is probably developed by now. south florida is becoming a concrete jungle and i long for the greenery i grew up with.

“Flowering Meadow” by Alexander Koester, 1915-20.
Impressionism is one of my favorite art movements because it shows life as a brisk blur, which is actually very realistic to how it feels when you reminisce. Life passes by so fast and impressionistic painters remind you to slow down and enjoy life with each whimsical painterly stroke.
I also love the colors of spring in this painting, purple, yellow, and green marry so beautifully together. The painting just encapsulates the season of spring so perfectly.

2-4) From Jonathan Anderson’s spectacle for Haute Couture AW26-27 show “Promenade au Parc” (Walk in the Park) which is a nod to daily Parisian life and nature.
Set in Jardin des Tuileries, (one of my favorite parks from when I used to live in Paris) the show also features the fashion as metaphors of French painter Monet’s arguably most famous painting series called “Water Lilies”.
I adore the heels, I love how whimsical yet realistic they are. Already inspired so many shoots in my head.
