What a privelage it has been to be your mama duckling all these weeks. I consider myself the lucky one to have gotten to know each of you and watch you grow as actors and humans each night. I will miss you, maggots.

It's the last show for one of my kid casts for Matilda, one of whom I have literally watched grow up. (Her closing gift to me is that picture with me holding her as a baby versus now. 😭) Each of them brings something so special and I will miss them so much. I am so proud of you, nuggets.

I rarely post pictures of myself performing these days because, well, frankly I have been struggling with some body image issues. I work out consistently and eat thoughtfully but let's be real, I am 44. I'm dealing with perimenopause and general aging and as a woman in an industry that insists we never grow old, its hard not to let that affect you sometimes. And, I still get really stuck on feeling like any image I use to promote myself needs to be "perfect". I can find 5 things "wrong" with me in any picture of myself. But, when I look at these live action shots captured at our Aventura Bette Midler Tribute Show last week, all I see is a bad-ass Rock Star...And my God look at my legs. (My husband thinks I'm pretty hot, too).
My soul sister @shelleykee3 Shelley Keelor gave me the opportunity to collaborate with her and @ealsford Eric Alsford on this show a year ago and I'm so proud of what we've built since then. I would be an absolute fool not to show it off just a little.
I don’t think I have the words to express how I feel after this whole experience….but I’ll try.
Lizzie the musical came at a time when I really needed to remember why I am an actor. I’ll be honest - in life, sometimes, you get a little jaded, distracted, insecure about your work. Not a newsflash for anyone, but nonetheless. It leads to a hesitation to live out your purpose as an artist but also as a human, and this year in particular, I felt really stuck on how to find that purpose again. Lizzie Borden, an enigma and maybe the most infamous woman of her time, (also struggling, determined, and fierce,) held my hand as I faced off with my own mysteries. I don’t think there are mistakes in life, and always, always divine timing in everything. So, I have no doubt this production came just when it was supposed to.
Bringing Lizzie to the stage illuminated me in a way I will never forget. How often do you get to be a rockstar? How often do you get to explode in unapologetic rage against an unsavory world? How often can you pay respects to the haunting history of womanhood and queerness in this country, all while using your voice to awaken an audience who is watching it repeat itself in realtime around us?
I will always remember those audience members who saw themselves in these characters and felt seen and vindicated. Thank you for sharing your stories with me.
I am so grateful, beyond measure, to Thinking Cap Theatre who made this experience possible! This cast, crew, band, and creative team pushed me to elevate my work, focus on my precision, and reevaluate my drive and path to the artist I am meant to be. They were unrelenting, joyful, honest, and gave me permission to be vulnerable just when I needed it. I feel immense pride for what we created together and so honored I was given the chance to lead this play alongside such absolute leaders in this cast - each an inspiration and light. I will always carry a piece of my Lizzie, my Alice, my Emma, and my Bridget with me moving forward.

Today’s spotlight is on Sabrina Lynn Gore! With her smoky alto, Sabrina is a Three-time Carbonell nominee and Silver Palm Recipient. After just finishing a successful run playing Julia in A Delicate Balance at Island City Stage, she is overjoyed to be doing this tribute to one of the greatest entertainers of all time. Some of her other favorite theatre credits include Othello, Much Ado About Nothing, Precious Little, 9 to 5, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Murder Ballad, Xanadu, Wild Party, Next to Normal, Lizzie the Musical, Head Over Heels, Last Summer at Bluefish Cove, and Disenchanted: The Musical. She is also an award-winning Director of several critically acclaimed shows including: Ragtime, Fun Home, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Sweat, Peter and the Starcatcher in addition to co-directing the Uncensored play-reading series at Thinking Cap Theatre and Summer Shorts: Flipping the Script at City Theatre in Miami. Sabrina has a passion for Fitness and is an NASM Nutrition Coach. She is also an ordained Minister (#loveislove). She is grateful to her fiancé, Mike, her soul sisters, and to her fuzzy-faced fur child, Biscuit.
