Itโs an album that explores the slipperiness of time through natural vignettes as a year elapses in the forest. The first track off the record, ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ต๐ต๐ธ๐, a song about a dreaming dog, is streaming everywhere now.

Hello hello, we are pleased to announce we will be releasing the new album CARAVAN by the duo SALTPUPPET on May 1. Four songs from the album are available to listen to TODAY!
Caravan is the soundtrack of a wandering band in a wasteland world. The thirty three song album follows the wagon for three years as the travelers weather storms and sacrifice sanity on their journey to nowhere in particular.
The four songs available today are a preview of the full journey to come, and we hope you will be enticed by this glimpse into the world of Caravan. We are also pleased to announce a CD release of this album which is available to preorder on Bandcamp today.

Three tours, 25 shows, lots of fun with friends, started to learn how to run a farm, harvested 75 pounds of honey from my bees, and hiked a couple hundred miles through Hawaii, Maine, Colorado, Arizona, Florida, California, Oregon, Washington, Greece, Albania, and Sicily. A very good year.
We are thrilled to see the latest effort from @saapato ๐ง ๐ธ๐ฝ ๐ฐ๐ป๐ฐ๐๐บ๐ฐ ๐ง featured on @sawdeye โs โ15 Best Ambient Albums of 2025โ list for @popmatters .

Pleased to announce Brendan Principato as the newest member of the StretchMetal Board of Directors ๐ธ
@saapato is the music project of upstate New Yorkโbased sound artist Brendan Principato. His work explores the intersection of ecology and music, weaving manipulated field recordings with lush electronic soundscapes that invite listeners to reconsider their place within nature. He has completed multiple residencies with the National Park Service and the Alaska State Park Service, including a 2023 residency near Juneau documenting whale and bird migrations, and a 2022 residency on Fire Island, New York, recording the fragile ecologies of swale and dune habitats.
Brendan is also the land host to our series great big pond, our summer series of ambient music by a (big) pond which happens to be in Brendans backyard. We are pleased to welcome him on board!
โThe Salmon Run is something that everyone should go and see for themselves. It is bar none the most incredible natural phenomenon I have ever experienced, a true sensory feast. It looks gorgeous, it looks hideous, it can smell disgusting, it sounds otherworldly, itโs upsetting, itโs uplifting, and itโs everywhere.
In a week I must have seen at least a million fish in all states of life and decay. I watched a salmon jump up over a waterfall into a natal stream and release spawn in a red cloud. I watched 10-20 thousand โzombie chumโ swimming so perfectly with the current that they didnโt move. Everyday I saw piles of thousands of dead salmon in dried creek beds, some still alive, others but bones. Enormous, reeking, undulating masses of fish. The rot seeps into the earth and leads to incredibly rich soil, allowing the plants to flourish beyond imagination. To witness the circle of life like that was transformative for me and this little track tries to dip a toe into what that felt like.โ - @saapato

๐ซ๏ธ๐ฆ๐ซ๏ธ Out of the mist floats ๐ฐ๐ ๐จ๐๐๐๐๐, a new @saapato album of recorded music and natural sound made while in residence with the Alaska State Park Service. Each composition reflects a different sonic space I experienced across the ten days I spent hiking and kayaking throughout the area. Itโs a celebration of life and abundance, an elegy for silence and purity, and a field study of the sound environments found within the Tongass rainforest, and the Greater Juneau areaโs rivers, mountain, channels, fjords and glaciers.
The full album will arrive on 11/14 via @akprecordings but today Iโm happy to share ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐น๐๐, a song for one of Alaskaโs most extreme ecological phenomena. In late August the water churns with salmon pushing upstream to spawn.ย Rivers become so full of fish it can be hard to see the water. Witnessing this key piece of Alaskaโs cycle felt spiritual; I was completely overwhelmed by the density of life I encountered. This song is available everywhere now, though I hope youโll consider listening to it somewhere other than Spotify. Thereโs also a video you can watch in my bio.
