been waiting YEARS to finally make a post about this project. winter break of my first semester, since I was spending it in the Netherlands, i decided to visit some of my friends in Greece. marianthi wanted to busk. i had never done that before and it scared me but also excited me. It was just me and the 2 people that I had just met about 4 months ago at that time in a foreign country lol. @marianthi_olympia , who sang and played guitar and @antonakakis.d who played viola. we ended up arranging a couple of her greek and english songs for that instrumentation and just busked on the streets of Athens. our second semester marianthi wanted to carry on the project and release 5 of her greek songs with just us 3 - voice & guitar, violin and viola. we spent so much time all together just in the 11th floor lounge of 160, crafting and workshopping arrangements. ultimately it was just time spent with 2 of my close friends, playing to the sunset. since then, these songs have taken so many different shapes and forms, been through thousands of revisions etc etc. i went back to greece and recorded THOUSANDS of violins on the whole ep again which was a cool (yet taxing) experience :”)
our youth and growth through these 3 years of work can be seen. i was a whole different person just a mere 3 years ago. all that to say, this EP - “The Empire where the Sun Never Sets” - has an incredibly special place in my heart. through this, and through collaborations, i’ve met some of my best friends, and I’m grateful for their trust in me as a person and as a musician. this ep has also taught me the power of strings. just 3 string instruments. I’m grateful to have contributed to the arrangements and production of these 5 beautiful songs. slides 14-18 are my favourite parts of each song. if you have just 25 minutes to spare, please listen to the ep from top to bottom if you can❤️ it’s truly beautiful and has got so much rawness and heart.

it was truly such an honour to meet and be part of a night filled with so many INCREDIBLE musicians. pretty crazy to say that i opened for @chinmayisripaada in my home country💙 she’s such an inspiration to women everywhere and i’m so grateful i got to not only share the stage with her but also witness her perform with her fantastic band live. seeing their arrangements lit a fire in my chest fr✨
thank you to @shreyaas_music for recording piano for me, and to my dear parents and brother for their ever constant support🫶🫶 so many of my friends and family came out, and i’ll never take their love for granted. once again, thank u @soiree.sg for the opportunity.

i had such a blast on stage with my beautiful wonderful band, who has genuinely given me so much courage and confidence to do what i did.
freshman sandhya would’ve never imagined doing what i’m doing with the violin right now. the love, support, and hype i’ve received have been absolutely unreal. i’m endlessly grateful for everyone who’s believed in me, encouraged me, or simply been part of my journey in any way.
