Love letter to Nancy part 2/3 (2022-2026) đź’Ś
Oh boy where to begin… Nancy Meehan has been my artistic home for the last 7 years. I grew up in this room - I think I’ve been in this room more or less every Monday and/or Wednesday for the last 7 years. I built three evening lengths here, countless shorter pieces, class combinations, weekly researches, crisis get your life together admin days, and the most consistent thing, a solid sweep and mop. A throughline that has been a constant reminder to work hard for the things you love and sometimes they will hug you back. I’ve cried in this room more times than I could count and I’ve also cried laughing even more times. Time has been spent time with so many incredible friends and artists, building and nurturing relationships that will last a lifetime.
This room has watched me be a young grad with a dream and has supported me through building my company, choreographing multiple shows off broadway, navigating a pandemic, and even making my wedding dance. It breaks my heart as we near the end of an era but I want to celebrate the deep love I have for this space by reflecting on the last 7 years of creativity, blood, sweat, tears, growth, and most importantly, community.
We’re in an age where everything feels so curated and there’s an unspoken expectation for perfection online. This is a messy uncut collection of rehearsals, pieces very much in progress, time with loved ones, improvisations that I thought should never see the light of day, and moments that make my heart happy so I can go back and see everything in one place. Take a look or don’t, apologies in advance for jamming your feed, and here’s to whatever happens next. Thank you Nancy ❤️
