Royce Caleb Makmur’s design Sabotage examines Indonesia’s colonial past through bold, couture-driven silhouettes. Referencing periods of Dutch, Japanese, Portuguese, French, English, and Spanish occupation, the work reflects themes of exploitation and forced labor. A palette of black, blood and crimson red, silver, beige, and brown is paired with heavy fabrics like velvet, duchess, wool, and leather, contrasted by chiffon, tulle, and crinoline. By reworking traditional Indonesian dress such as beskap and kebaya with European elements like panniers and leather, Makmur creates a powerful, ceremonial tension between heritage, violence, and resilience. Mini Collection - Sabotage (Look 5) this Collection Illustrates about the era of the colonization of Indonesia with immigrants from Dutch, Japan, Portugal, France, England and Spain. In this decade, Indonesian suffered a lot and with their natural resources being theft by those countries and many were force to do multiple land labor with minimum wage. This collection consist colors of black, blood and crimson red, silver, beige, and shades of brown, complementing that with heavy fabric of choice such as Velvet, duchess, wool, leather with light fabrics like chiffon, tulle and crinoline. Inspired through mixing the cultures of Indonesia with European countries clothing such as “ Beskap and Kebaya” with “Pannier, Diamond strings and Leather”. By that, this collection will have a strong and tough aura mixing with the majestic feels from the color red beige and silver , resulting in a complex outlook reflecting the violence that the villagers undergo at that time. Mini Collection, Ethnic Avant-Garde - "SABOTAGE" In this Collection, i developed total looks of 8 with over 100 sketches to achieved a very appealing looks. This Moments was about the Indonesian of the past within the era of colonization under Netherlands, Japan, Portugal and France. With that all considered, i mesmerized all that vibes into this Beautiful Chaos momentum with sillhouette of side hoop skirt made out of pvc pipes, pipes to form wings ( as seen in the menswear collection ) and completed all of that with red tulle to represent anger and blood, then continued with black mystical colors and traditional gold plates with combination of nudes and fluffy yarn dangling from each garments. With my idea, taking inspiration through the colors that Thailand itself explores from vibrant orange, mints and very strong yellow.
