This was such a fun project to make. The approach I took was a little different and hugely challenging as I tried to marry it in with an incredible, existing leg sleeve by @henning_royaltattoo It was an absolute pleasure to work with the wearer, Andrew too. After finishing Aaron’s sleeve, I managed to capture some footage of his back, leg, and the filler work throughout the project, fully healed and settled. I’m extremely lucky to have a client base that trusts my process and relies on me to explore my own ideas in the directions we take. I genuinely enjoy every project that comes my way. There is something especially satisfying about working on this kind of scale without overcomplicating things. Aaron essentially told me to do “anything,” which is rare. Usually when people say that, there are still things they definitely do not want. I even tried to push him to give me more direction, but we landed on a giant snake, chrysanthemums, and a few Hannya masks to connect it to the leg. The result, in my opinion, is one of the toughest back pieces I have made. The scale of it is ridiculous, and it was an unreal amount of fun to create. Finishing a project like this is the definition of bittersweet for me.
