As a kid you dream about getting behind the wheel of your favorite sports cars—the Porsche 911, for me, was always just the perfect combination of performance and a truly timeless aesthetic. I don’t discriminate, I love all cars new and old, but this one…chef’s kiss.
Also, still to this day, nothing beats ripping past a kid in an awesome car and seeing their excitement and enthusiasm. At one point we were all that kid…and in many ways, still are.

Part 2 of the convo from last week…
…and a very real moment from the summer of 2022. As I mentioned last week, this was the first time in my career that I looked at my accounts (checking, savings and all my credit cards balances) and the net was positive. I was 35 years old.
To those of you that think instagram is reality, it’s not. To those of you that think you’re behind in life, you’re not. To those that think everyone has cash but you, they don’t…but most importantly, to those that think any of that shit matters, it doesn’t.
Focus on you, your business, your people, your life, compare it to no one and be grateful for all of it because it’s yours. Your path, your choice, your vision, your goals and ultimately…your reward.
Life is weird. You spend most of it working towards moments that you’re convinced will change everything forever. Well, the reality is, those moments actually rarely change much at all. Instead, looking retrospectively, it was the tiny little moments, day in and day out that made those bigger moments worth chasing.
Success and wealth is something most of us are after and in this example replying to a comment, something that’s often perceived but rarely reality. Truth is, I had been broke or near broke since I left my parent’s house and moved to NYC at 22. Sure I made money, but was also chasing various ideas, opportunities and bigger goals—the money went out just as fast as it came in. In fact when leaving NYC to move to Vegas in 2016, I had the exact same amount of cash in my account as when I had first moved to the city….five years later.
In June of 2022, just before my 35th birthday, roughly 7 years into GHOST and about 13 years into my career, we made money for the first time. Many assume you stack cash when starting a business, especially one that’s successful. The reality is you’re the last to get paid. Just before that moment, I still had roughly ~$70k in credit card debt from years of balance transfers and minimum payments. Then, it all changed…and at the same time nothing really changed at all. Sure you can buy some shit, but it’s always fleeting. It’s the pursuit, the pressure and the privilege of doing what you love that made that moment great.

I don’t think any founder starts a business and says, “we’re going to build the next billion dollar company,” at least that’s not a convo we had day one. Instead we said to each other, let’s build something around the things that we love, with people we enjoy and see where shit takes us…
The only rule was 10 years from now we need to be able to look each other in the eyes and say we stayed true to why we started this in the first place. Well, proud to say, 10 years in, we’re still having fun, we’re still doing what we love, we still make fun of each other daily and never take life too seriously.
The byproduct? GHOST became that billion dollar company.
