A Valley Oasis - Silas, 2026 (@honkytonk.hooker ) - little taste of some new personal work I’ve been quietly working on, hand printed by me. So happy to finally connect with sweetheart Silas after a few years of following each other. As I usually say these days, everything feels crazy and dystopian but despite that I’m trying to dig into my creative process more than ever. Works been busy but will get back to more people who reached out about collaborating soon. X Ryan

Silas, 2026 (@honkytonk.hooker ) - been a crazy few weeks work wise, so I’ve been trying to print for myself as much as I can with my down time. I’m in shadow-banned purgatory here still so share and engage when you see me pop up if you can. Summer is coming and I’m very open to new experimentation and collaborations. As always be kind to yourself and remind someone you love them.

I photographed over 100 couples over the course of a year for my book Holding Space, during a time where any sort of social interaction still felt like a Christmas miracle. I was pleasantly unaware of the emotional, physical and financial toll I was inflicting on myself. I hadn’t spent that much time and money on my own work since grad school. My postpartum period after the book release was not 6 weeks or even 6 months; it was more like 2-3 years. Since I spent so little time living with each shoot, I’ve been printing a few frames of each couple in the darkroom in the spirit of closure on that chapter of my life. I think it’s working.
A little sampling of my lovely time spent with the stunning and talented @dreelouisehemingway at her home for @fthtsi - even though it’s rare these days with commissions I’m very grateful when something comes up that lets me create in someone’s home exactly how I would for my personal work. Most of my commissions as of late have been ones I won’t be able to share for a while or are embargoed.

How it feels multitasking today illustrated by the supremely talented @josephaumeer who I shot months ago. Clearly indicative of my backlog on personal work.
Manuel, 2026 (@bmanuel ) - sometimes it feels like I need to post multiple images at a time in order to have engagement. I don’t make reels or come on here with a tiny mic giving my hot takes because that’s not me or how I envision myself and my work being digested. Returning to hand printing in the darkroom has further solidified that for me as it allows me to be slower and more deliberate with what I devote time to. While there are plenty of images I love from my recent shoot with Manuel, this portrait hits all the notes for me in terms of the vibes I try to consistently evoke with my vision.
