We are excited to announce our new album, SECURITY, will be released on Friday, March 13th, and is available for pre-order now. On Security, we swing the hammer harder than ever before. This album explodes with melodic and pummeling industrial punk; inspired by our heroes but reaching in directions entirely unique to Fotocrime. The bulldozing first single “PLOWJOB” sets the tone for the album. You can watch the video and stream the single now. Our friend @aaronbturner appears on the track, lending his signature bellowing vocals to every “plow”. The album also features appearances from our friends Jay Weinberg, Barney Greenway, Brian Cook, Nico Bazire, Phab, Jamie Beard, Aon Brasi, Reeves Outen, Evan Patterson, J. Robbins, Ben Sears, Luke Stevens, Amber Thieneman, Nick Thieneman, and Nick Yacyshyn. Security was produced by @jrobbinsofficial and @ryanmichaelpatterson , engineered by J. Robbins, and mixed by Ryan Patterson & J. Robbins at @thehouseoffoto in Louisville. It was mastered by Magnus Lindberg at @mlprod_vrtkl in Stockholm. Vinyl will be released by Ryan via Auxiliary / Shirt Killer. CD and digital will be released by Artoffact Records. I was incredibly moved and honored to see so many people wearing, waving, and sharing my Cat Magic Punks and CLAWS shirts, flags, signs, hats, etc. at Hands Off protests around the country. It has been one of the great joys of my life to have made these designs and statements that have resonated with so many people. More importantly, it is beautiful to see so many folks everywhere standing up to fascism, authoritarianism, oligarchs, white supremacists, religious extremists, and all of their kind.

I’m excited about working with both new people and old friends and making excellent music and records together. Projects I’m able take on will be picked based on my interest and availability. Since the House of Foto is not an open-to-the-public commercial studio, I work with outside bands and artists on a select basis. I am also available to produce and engineer at other studios, depending on the situation. Some really wonderful records I worked on for other bands are coming out this year and I’m excited to share them when the time comes.

These dudes have been shaping my music world for more than 20 years through bands like @coliseumband and Cursed, so it was really cool hearing stories about how their friendship goes back even further, and how it’s survived and evolved through time, distance, and the constantly changing world of independent music and art. This morning in Köln we sat down at Rotkehlchen vegan cafe for breakfast and at the table next to us these two nice people were coincidentally there both wearing Fotocrime shirts. They had seen us in Germany before and had driven four hours each way to come see us play in Köln last night. I was shocked and deeply moved. It touched me and made me very happy and thankful. 🖤

Nine years ago this week, we played our first shows at the invite of Brian Cook and Russian Circles. In the coming weeks, we’ll be playing a handful of shows with them in Europe, along with our dear old friends Pelican, who we will also be playing with in Budapest. In a life of touring, you meet a lot of good people and a lot of people that disappoint you. Along with all the wonderful fans, promoters, bands, crew, and other beautiful people you meet and work with on tour, you also come across a lot of insincere or unkind people. You are sometimes treated with complete disdain by venues or other artists, or people you think might be sincere that turn away from you as quickly as they arrived. It makes the people who become true, enduring friends even more special. Russian Circles and Pelican are the good ones. Possibly the best. Russian Circles are the kindest and most gracious band I have ever played shows and toured with, while also having a collective sense of humor that is as sharp and sarcastic as it is hilarious. Through various bands and artistic endeavors, these people have been helpful and meaningful friends to me for nearly three decades. I never take it for granted and I wanted to publicly thank them again for giving me the encouragement to immediately take Fotocrime out on the road nine years ago and continuing to be selflessly supportive and helpful. I’m very stoked Brian was also able to drop by when we were recording Security and play a bit on “Cautious”. It may just be a handful of shows, but it means a lot. You might not hear these bands even speak on stage, but know that they are great people. Love all you guys. Can’t wait to begin Fotocrime’s seventh European tour next week! - Ryan / Fotocrime 🖤⛓️🔒
