Love and delight characterize this special book on Mary, the mother of Jesus. Eight appearances of Mary in different countries range from Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico, to Our Lady of La Vang in Vietnam, to Our Lady of Lourdes in France. About two months ago I started working as a designer full time for @sojogram ! I feel so lucky to be doing work that encompasses a lot of what I’m passionate about; liberation politics, Christianity and design! Been animating more over there and pretty stoked about what we posted today; highlighting a piece on pregnancy and incarcerated mothers. These editorial illustrations were one of the first things I did for Sojourners a while back when I was freelancing and recently won an Award of Merit from the Associated Church Press.

Today marks 14 years of sharing my art online. I had no idea that would turn into a career of illustration, a community of support and an outlet to explore some of the hardest questions. I can’t begin to say thank you for all the ways you all have supported my art. It makes me tear up to think about some of my pieces sitting in your home alters or hanging on your bedroom walls. Thank you to all of you who invited me into your own art work; whether to make the covers of your albums or books. It is a responsibility I don’t take lightly and I’m so grateful for your trust. My artwork has been on quite the journey with me. It’s been religious, devotional, dark, political, lighthearted, and experimental. It’s allowed me to mourn and celebrate; to have fun and make new friends! Thank you for being open and supporting me along the way

Such an honor to illustrate the cover story for @sojogram Sept/October issue! 🥹😭 The piece “How to Find Healing From Religious Trauma” by @matthiasroberts is an incredible read all about the reality of religious trauma on the nervous system and the authors own journey finding healing. This was such a meaningful project to work on as I’ve been processing and working on healing my own religious trauma. Big thank you to @sojogram for bringing me into this special piece! You can read more and see my illustrations in print over at sojo.net/magazine
