Sleep feels like the only escape from the sadness, but then you wake up, look to the foot of the bed, and the reality hits all over again—you’ve lost your best friend of 15 years.
Waves of sorrow come and go, crashing unexpectedly. Memories are everywhere. The smudged “nose art” on the window. Dog treats still written on the grocery list. A tiny piece of stuffing from a toy, now forever silent.
The house feels colder and quieter. I find myself checking all your usual nap spots, only to be met with emptiness. I miss the soft “chick, chick, chick” of your nails tapping across the wooden floor.
Your paw prints from that final walk have already disappeared under fresh snow.
This is the new reality. No more walks. No more pee pills. No more wagging nub to greet me at the door.
I know this pain will eventually soften, and in its place will remain the beautiful memories we made together. Like the day we met. You, full of spirit, chewed through the twine around your neck and escaped that cattle ranch—choosing a life of adventure instead.
And what a life it was. Countless miles on the trail. Summiting 14ers. Ski tours, backpacking trips, road trips, and lazy days at the crag. You lived a life any dog would dream of.
For 15 years, we were inseparable, sharing a love for the outdoors and each other. Honey Bear, you were my partner, my companion, my best friend. I will love and miss you forever.

✨ Fun Facts: • Glacier Bay has over 1,000 glaciers, with 50 named ones. • Some tidewater glaciers here are taller than skyscrapers and calve ice chunks the size of houses into the sea. • Just 250 years ago, the bay was completely filled with ice—now it stretches 65 miles long! • Wildlife thrives here: you can spot humpback whales, sea otters, bald eagles, and even brown bears along the shoreline. • The glaciers here move fast for ice—up to 6–8 feet per day!
