Day 3 of Spirit Week and today is decades. I am rolling it back to 1999. I was a sophomore in college living in NYC, where the threat of going back to the stone age felt very real.
I was genuinely surprised how many students have never heard of Y2K. Anyway, airplanes did not fall from the sky and dams did not fail.
Presenting my take on the Millennium Bug. It was fun to make the old circa 1999 monitor, taking this big bug back 26 years....
Happy Thanksgiving... Er that time of year again at work where we partake in Spirit Week. Theme today was holidays, and well the staff got to pick their favorite holiday... So mine was Thanksgiving. What better disfunctional day of the year can we be thankful for chaos, gluttony, and outdated practices?

The show was a maze, seek and find, of 20 amazing artists spread out over 2 floors. You found yourself walking by or into an open unit revealing an environment and escape from the venue.
Over 400 visitors came through, and many of those stopped to chat, reflect or comment on this unique show .
Installation inspired and reflective of the Unicorn Tapestries. Titled "in Captivity (When All of the Unicorns are Gone)".

These are mentally and physically exhausting times, and I feel as an artist and a parent it is more important than ever to share my work. Disguised within fabricated worlds of whimsy, lurk darker intentions and truths. My work always explored ideas of belonging and the over the top exaggeration of Florida ideology. However now these feelings and theatrics are no longer isolated, but everywhere. It is becoming more difficult to distinguish between fantasy and reality, and we are no longer spectators to the chaos, but a part of it. We are struggling, surviving, masquerading as the harlequin and fool, but no longer removed.
This is no longer a far off place or a long time ago, this is in our backyard and this is now.
The title of this piece is called "In Captivity (When all of the Unicorns are Gone)"
