Post: Animatronics Coordinator Contract: Full-time Start Date: June 2026 Hours of work: 5 days per week (Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm) Reporting to: The Artist and Studio Director Location: Ryan Gander Studio, Solid House, Saddlemakers Lane, Melton, Suffolk IP12 1PP Ryan Gander Studio are looking for an Animatronics Coordinator to specialise in overseeing animatronic artworks, including researching, developing, testing and repairing them to the highest standard before they leave the studio, alongside other daily production tasks as part of a small, dynamic studio team. From 15 October, (Opening reception: 13 October, 6–9pm) Camden Arts Projects (@camdenarts176 ) and Lisson Gallery presents Ryan Gander: I’ve Fallen Foul of My Desire, curated by Hala Matar. Time and value are at once fleeting, elastic, distracting, and inevitable, and form the central subject of Ryan Gander’s latest exhibition. Referencing humanity’s ongoing obsession with the accumulation of “stuff”, the exhibition brings together new and recent sculptures, animatronics, and installations, exploring how we perceive, distort, and inhabit time and how imagination can transform our relationship to it. “The artworks remind us that we are in charge of our own destiny, our agency and our time—factors that are more important than the things that are dictated to us by society and tradition,” Gander notes. “The power is in your imagination, and you have the power to change your perception.” At the centre of the exhibition is ‘The Storyteller: The sense that you are a part of a flow of a thing’ (2025), in which an animatronic harvest mouse emerges from a hole in the wall to deliver a philosophical monologue in the voice of the artist’s daughter. Reflecting on identity, commodification, and possibility, the mouse becomes the conscience of the exhibition, whispering to visitors about uncertainty and that imagination needs to be seen as an essential resource. NEW in the collection of museum Beelden aan Zee: Waiting for Timefall (2025) by Ryan Gander. It is the most recent work in Gander’s series of ballerinas, inspired by Degas’ iconic Petite danseuse de quatorze ans (1880–1881). Director and curator Brigitte Bloksma: “Here we see the ballerina in a moment of stillness, as if waiting for something beyond her reach. This waiting is not a passive act, but a conscious, active state of being. It reflects the tension between the human desire to gain control over the concept of time and its inevitable passing. Thanks to the generous support of private donors, this special acquisition enriches our international collection of contemporary sculpture, offering space for reflection on current themes that help shape our future.” On view until 4 January in the exhibition Pas de Deux. ___ NIEUW in de collectie van museum Beelden aan Zee: Waiting for Timefall (2025) van Ryan Gander.
