Family Meal, the queer disco supper club & hospitality collective curating beats & bites that feed the soul, returns to C’mon Everybody on Sunday, June 7th from 6–10pm for our 6th edition! For this very special edition, we’re kicking off Pride month with a reflection of all the things we’re proud of here at Family Meal HQ. Our menu is inspired by iconic queer chefs like James Beard, featuring ingredients and dishes that play with color, flavor and texture in bold ways that are both loud and proud! For the bites, join us for dinner by Greg Lauro and the Rethink Food team from 6–8PM and dessert by Joyah Dominique from 7–9PM, until we run out. For the beats, we’re thrilled to welcom two very special guest DJs into the family, @jonathan.x and @karimolenash , who will be bringing the beats all night long. Your host extraordinaire, Ryan Frostig will make sure you’re well taken care of. Rooted in the tradition of the “family meal” shared by restaurant staff, we continue to reimagine this sacred ritual through a queer lens, finding new ways to celebrate community, creativity and care. Our partner @rethinkfood is a non-profit dedicated to minimizing food waste and ending food insecurity in NYC. A portion of every ticket sold supports their incredible work. Spring has sprung in New York City, so it’s time to assemble the family for a spring affair. Family Meal, the queer disco supper club & hospitality collective that celebrates the intersection of food, music, culture & nightlife, returns to C’mon Everybody on Sunday, May 3rd from 6-10pm. For our 5th edition, we’re unpacking our dainty picnic basket onto the dinner table and dance floor. This edition’s menu features reimagined picnic classics including finger sandwiches, pinwheels, lemon sweets and our signature crudite platter. Join us for dinner by Greg Lauro and the Rethink Food team (6–8PM, or until we run out), dessert by Joyah Dominique (7–9PM, or until we run out), music by our resident @luvr_dj , some groovy house tunes from 7PM ‘til late, and hosted by Ryan Frostig all night long! The brilliant mind behind Family Meal, Ryan Frostig (@ryanfrostig ) is a multi-hyphenate creative with nearly 15 years of experience across New York City’s hospitality industry, spanning hotels, restaurants, and private events. Living in NYC continues to inspire him through its unparalleled convergence of cuisine, music, and culture, shaped by the visionary chefs, DJs and tastemakers who make the city a global epicenter of innovation and experience. Yet, despite the abundance of extraordinary dining options at his doorstep, Ryan will always have a soft spot for street meat from his favorite halal cart on the corner of 1st Avenue and 28th Street. So Ryan, what does Family Meal mean to you? “It means that I can create a space with my friends that honors the legacy of our city and the spirit of my industry.”

Family Meal returns to @cmoneverybodybk for another fabulous evening of beats and bites! On February 16th, we will be serving up a big batch of LOVE through the food we cook, the music we play, and the people we gather with. In trying times such as these, we are calling our community to come together, eat, dance, organize, discuss, and cultivate a distinct kind of love that transcends any hallmark holiday and has the power to heal. For the bites, in partnership with @rethinkfood , we are thrilled to invite our resident pastry chef @butjdisbetter into the spotlight to curate this edition’s menu which we’re calling “Family Meal Presents: AFROdisiac” which is an exploration of Afrocentric cooking and aphrodisiacs. For the beats, we have invited our friend & dancefloor darling, @jonathan.x , behind the decks joining @luvr_dj for a special B2B all night long. Ticket 🔗 in bio.

This edition's menu was inspired by classic turkey day nostalgia, but with a twist!Comfort food, leftovers, and lots of carbs! As always this menu is subject to change. 🦃 dinner menu by Greg: curried turkey and potato croquettes with ginger thai basil cranberry sauce roasted mushroom and apple stuffing (vegan) brined and roasted root vegetable bites with sage and apple cider gravy (vegan) dill and black pepper parker rolls with salted honey horn of plenty crudite platter with carrot top chimmi churri, 5 spice candied honeynut squash hummus, caramelized onion yogurt dip, and green bean pesto dessert menu by Joyah: sweet potato pie cookie biscoff pie crust cookie with piped with an authentic sweet potato pie filling and topped with a little pie crust crumble double crusted pumpkin pie cheesecake layers of pumpkin pie and be cheesecake sandwiched between a brown butter carmel shortbread crust gf cornbread cookie with honey butter cream frosting The recent snap crisis highlighted the fragility of our food system and the urgent need for a collective response. As emergency benefits were delayed, food banks struggled to meet demand. At rethink food, meal counts were increased by 16,000 and the organization provided $73,000 in support to affected restaurants, while preparing to broaden our impact. Family Meal would not be possible without Rethink, and therefore, we will be donating a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales back to them. Family Meal Edition 02 is being served tomorrow, and our menu is officially LIVE! Since nearly all the ingredients for Family Meal come from donations to Rethink, we never know exactly what we’ll have to work with. But thanks to Chef Cali Rivera's clear vision, and the creativity and innovation cultivated in the kitchen, we’re finally able to bring that vision to life. We cannot wait to turn @cassettenyc into your very own disco tapas bar. Swipe for the full menu, and see below for descriptions… @calicooks x @rethinkfood will be serving the following: Small Plates in the Basque tradition: Best of Summer vegetable crudite with roasted carrot puree and beet hummus Pintxos : Gildas (La Gilda): Considered the first Basque pintxo—salty anchovies with pickled peppers and olives. Ajo Blanco con Manchego: Served on bread with roasted grapes. Hamachi en Escabeche: On bread with salsa verde alioli. Coca de Trampó: Traditional Majorcan flatbread topped with tomato salad and peppers. Empanadas de Cordero Moruno: Slowly braised lamb with ras el hanout spices. Tortilla y Alioli: Classic Spanish tortilla made with eggs, potatoes, onions, and olive oil. Closing things out, @butjdisbetter will be serving the following sweets: Churro cookies: All the pillowy, cinnamoney goodness of a churro, married with the comfort and warmth of a cookie Arroz con dulce (gf): Authentic, Puerto Rican arroz con dulce packed with flavors from coconut and ginger to cinnamon and nutmeg. In a challenging world, I find strength and hope in community, like the one I'm building with @areyoumargiela at Family Meal, our new disco supper club where you can feel good and do good. We’re excited to return to @cassettenyc next Friday, and as we finalize our menu with @rethinkfood , here’s a sneak peek of the vision behind our upcoming FM. For Edition 02, we’re featuring chef Cali Rivera (@calicooks ), and DJ duo @djgantjohnson and @3dambrocia of @yesshedidbk ! Cali is a veteran of the NYC culinary scene, with experience from Prune and Gramercy Tavern, who also runs his own catering company. Originally from Honduras, Cali celebrates queer Latin culture and cuisine while embracing Mediterranean flavors from his travels and a commitment to seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. His vision aligns perfectly with my inspiration for Family Meal: Tapas Bars. Cali has crafted a sample menu highlighting Spanish gastronomy's rich traditions, centered on tapas—small plates that reflect Spain’s hospitality and the joy of gathering. This culture of sharing has shaped our Family Meal format, focusing on bite-sized dishes that are easy to prepare and delightful to enjoy. In one of our most recent meetings, we also discussed Spanish artists like Picasso and Dalí, who drew inspiration from gastronomy and valued restaurants as vital spaces for connection. To enhance our self-made tapas bar experience, we've invited veteran New York DJs Tre D'Ambrocia and Gant Johnson to delve into their record crates and deliver two special back-to-back all-vinyl sets that evoke the old-school discotheques of the 70s and 80s. They will showcase a diverse musical spectrum, blending Brazilian Bossa lounge music with high-energy Italo and Euro disco. We’ve also discussed legendary artists from that era, including Raffaella Carrà, Charo, and many other incredible talents! I'm thrilled to bring the vision of Family Meal to life once again!
