A group of Asian American creatives are keeping their music and culture alive through curated events in Seattleās Chinatown International District.
With every record spin, SEA Vinyl Society aims to share and preserve musical genres that tell stories from the Southeast Asian diaspora. Some of those records hearken back to the Vietnam War era.
In 2023, the group was founded by a community of activists, artists, DJs and journalists ā all with deep roots in Seattleās creative scene. One of their signature monthly events is Third Fridays at Hood Famous Cafe and Bar in the CID, where people of all ages and backgrounds are welcome.

I usually save these for my substack. Actually, Iāll probably post them there too. Iāve gotten back into the habit of carrying my camera with me everywhere. Idk. I really enjoy mundane things sometimes. The world is always on fire and so seeing kids riding a bike together or just looking over Oregon City in all its stillness, itās just a nice thought to remember that everything isnāt always collapsing. Scan/dev @moodysfilm
I got to do some actual scans of the film that I developed at home. I also wrote about whatās in my dumb brain at the moment on @substack . Link in the bio.

Developed my first roll of film since high school. Not too bad. I donāt have a real scanner, so I just put this on top of the light box I use to check my negatives and used one of those phone scanner apps. š¤·š½āāļø

Motivation in bursts. The world around us is so exhausting. Got a 90 on my final and Iām having a difficult time feeling celebratory about that. More thoughts in my Substack. Otherwise, here are some #film scans I got back from @moodysfilm .

Its Southeast Asian New Year and we've got the one and only DJ Sokha of @mamsbookstore rockin the decks! We've been waiting far too long for this collaboration.
