“Tongue” by @ryn_kid is out now! I’m thrilled to share this gem of a tune with all of you (produced, co-written with Ryn and mixed by yours truly). Songwriting sessions can be kind of like group therapy. We use words to express our feelings directly and music to create emotion subconsciously. When we come up with a line or melody or chord I’m always asking “how does it make us feel?” Not, “Does it make sense” or “Does it sound good” The best songs come from the heart and deeply personal lived experiences. “Tongue” is no exception. Thanks @ryn_kid for putting this song out in the world 🌎

I released my first original soundtrack album today. This year, I got the distinct pleasure of composing music for a film titled “Twelve.” The creators, Koji Sumalde (Writer, DP) & Dwight Mathis (Director), gave me a ton of creative freedom though we knew we wanted an electronic score with acoustic elements combined with nostalgic late 80s/90s stylings. Inspiration was pulled from 80s new-wave synth pop, 90s hip-hop breakbeats, and modern sound design textures. Aside from underscore, I also wrote several songs used throughout the film, including for the Date Montage as well as the Bar Scene, End Credits, and the Main Title theme. Many of the cues worked so well on their own that we decided to release a soundtrack. (There’s even a bonus track not featured in the film). I want to thank Koji & Dwight for giving me this opportunity as well as putting together such an inspiring film to write to. A special shout out to Sean Bucheck for his amazing Location Sound Mixing work and for pitching me for this opportunity. I’m eternally grateful.
