Every year for the past few years, fashion week (month) for me starts in NYC, and ends in RVA for @rvafashionweek and the @vcuartsfashion junior and senior presentations.
It is a blessing and an honor to assist alongside the faculty and students. Everyone from the professors to the student designers, merchandising, models, media, and so many more… I am truly grateful for the opportunity I’ve been given, the new people I’ve met, the friends I’ve made, and people I’ve created alongside with.
Thank you I am inspired by you all.!

Just going to continue to try and be a better human, by practicing peace, working hard, and accomplishing at least 10% of something everyday, ain’t much but at least I know the compound effect is real.

2/3/2026: Thank you and all the other Venerable Monks for blessing us.
For many personal reasons, I contemplated on if I should or shouldn’t post anything about the monks.. It was a moment I wanted to keep for myself.
I’ve had time to think and understand, to reflect on the moment, the blessings bestowed onto me and others, and most importantly their mission of spreading mindfulness and peace through a brutal walk where even nature decided to mess with them. Keeping this moment to myself for fear of being vulnerable went against their mission on sharing that peace. Lol. Made me realize I still ain’t sh*t and I need to do better.
~ This was literally a humble moment between monks and anyone that was willing to listen. It was and is, that simple, and I am thankful for it. ~

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to capture all the monks in attendance. Their rest and schedule were more important, but they’re all equally an important part of this peaceful journey.

Venerable Bhikkhu Pannakara
For as long as I’ve known, Buddhist Monks have been walking as a meditative practice for centuries. Even when I came to the US I read about a Buddhist nun that walked from San Francisco to Washington DC., but the only coverage you got was with the newspaper or local news.
Social media now has the ability to spread awareness of their mission of mindfulness and peace in real time. Their walk exposed ugliness in people. Proving again that we have a lot of work to do within ourselves and as a society. It brought out tests from nature. Extreme cold, wind, and snowstorms that continue to follow them along their path.
Through it all they continue to persevere and are met with larger and larger crowds. Some believers, some performative, but spreading their message nonetheless. Help from strangers, organizations, and governments all in solidarity now welcome them.
I met the venerable monks on the 101st day of their journey. I would assume they were exhausted, with their weathered down faces, sore legs, feet and ankles, fatigue, and sunken cheeks that appeared after their journey started. Despite the obvious, they were high spirited and vibrant. They kept an amazingly fast pace while stopping to give blessings and empathizing with strangers along the way. They have got to be tired, I would be, yet here they are spreading their message to us. Whether or not we listen, it doesnt matter, it’s up to us to do something about it, and when they are done, off to walking again.
The last hundred miles will probably be the hardest, but I know they will complete it with the same energy as when they started. It was an honor, a privilege, and a blessing to have met them. I know their message of mindfulness and peace was, and will be, well received.

Day 101 of the Venerable Monks walk for peace.

I was blessed today to see Aloka.
He seems to be recovering well from his surgery.
As much as he wanted to stay and say hi to everyone, you can tell he’s ready to get moving and is looking for the monks. He has become quite the celebrity while on his walk for peace. I know he’s seen a lot on his journey from India to USA, and on this walk from Texas to Washington DC.
