On the trail today I came across this joint task force revenant unit HALO-jump qualified counterterror psychological warfare infiltration interceptor (formerly retired, not anymore)! He was super silent at first, and averted his gaze when I spoke to him! But after several minutes of staring into nothingness, he looked at me and said “come”. And so I did! He led me to a military training course!! Can you believe that!? He was going to teach ME how to be a special operative! One of the exercises was learning how to climb a rope! A rope, of all things (it seemed so simple)!! And I was really struggling with it at first! I sadly got so scared. But then he whispered into my ear as he put his hand onto mine “all ropes are the same rope, once you stop being afraid of them.” And from there on things went so well I’m not sure I even have the words to express what happened, it was so beautiful!! After that he started throwing rocks at squirrels because they’re “not allowed to watch” and completely forgot I was there
We couldn’t believe it, no one could believe their eyes — the brown splendor of the bottom of this fallen tree, with its gummy/ damp soil texture, the way its roots twist and gnarl around each other like shoelaces, the way the whole thing sat there like an old couch cushion. It was a sight for sore eyes!
Did you know that if you hold one paddle above you and thrust it in a sweeping motion, and lift both feet out of the water, then dip your head in the water to streamline, you can increase your paddling speed by twenty percent? Recommend giving it a try!
Holy moly! This past weekend, my sister @emily_van_getson tied the knot with @sleepytreez ! Congratulations you two; I couldn’t be happier for the both of you! And what an incredible ceremony — it took place on the Pedernales, right before sunset, with perfect weather (a serendipitous seventy degrees). The rest of the wedding was just as outstanding — the food, the DJ, the band, the speeches, the alpacas. Fantastic job on the wedding, guys, and best wishes for your future together!
