Dusting off the cobwebs. One from a few weeks back with @_lucasdel Nothing finished, just somewhere in the middle. A part of the day I’m more and more intrigued by. The season kicking off with a whole new set of workshops. New experiences, reframing old ideas and building on new ones! . . . . #letskeeppushing

The Sydney chapter comes to a close. . . Very grateful for the experience and to have had the opportunity to meet and work with so many great people. You all know who you are 🙏🏻 . . The more perspective the more we grow and the better we guide the direction of our practice and of the industry as a whole. . . There’s some real great people down under doing great things for climbing and setting and I’m proud to have been a little part in that journey. Keep pushing. . . It’s back to France and back to a new round of workshops and setting. The 25/26 calendar is open and I’m looking forward to bringing some new workshops and content to the catalogue. Get in touch if you’re looking to develop your teams setting and looking for specialised tailored workshops. Stay tuned for more . . . . 📸 @tomjgilligan

Timelapse of a mornings work setting three of the gyms entry grades. Simple, varied and an interesting terrain. Trying to put a small something in each bloc whilst keeping the level as low as possible. Setting the easiest grades is a skill we often overlook. It’s not the flashy cordo, or hard power bloc and the book of movement is smaller. It’s often left until the end. Early on in my career as a route setter I got this so wrong. I didn’t understand the empathy or the emotions that we need to be aware of with new climbers starting out. I guess developing that takes time, perspective and a lot of observation. Put the time in and try something different. Mix it up. . . . . #routesetting #development #keeppushing

Having the time to explore how we use volumes with @owenwlam For new setters it’s often a daunting and scary task. I often hear in workshops or set days “Are you sure I’m allowed to take all these volumes?” YES! Everyone has to start somewhere and learn. Everyone deserves the time to play, explore, fail, restart, try something new. It’s so important to explore that early on in a new setters career. Getting volumes right and feeling comfortable with placing and using them in my opinion is key to pushing your setting. I really enjoyed the searching and setting. Keep pushing! Thanks to @9degreessydney for having the @lemur_wall_design board to use as a tool for setter development, we need more of that. . . . . #routesetting #routesettertraining

There’s this quiet moment in the morning when the coffee and brief are over and you slowly get your gear and start to make decisions. You get to walk towards the challenges of the job. You do so over and over because you can’t see yourself doing anything else. “C’est la vie que j’ai choisie” You’ve got a blank wall and anything is possible I’ve learnt a lot about life through creativity. Thank you to the people that helped me find that moment again and to @tomjgilligan for capturing the walk to the first choice of the day. What a job! . . . . #routesetting

Late night blocs with @micky_jt A chance to do something different, do something new, try something. A chance to be creative and play. Like two kids, curious on their first set day. It was great fun to be in that zone again and a good reminder. . . . . #routesetting
