A month and two days ago, I graduated from Temple University, class of 2025, 4.0 gpa. An amazing accomplishment, but definitely not at all what I would have ever expected to be saying or doing. It was definitely a bittersweet moment and I feel like I was a little checked out during the ceremony, but I was grateful nonetheless. I still don’t think that I have fully processed that I have officially graduated from college, I am finished with my higher education…maybe…for now….Regardless, I thank God for getting me to and through the finish line of my academic career.
A year and two days ago, the university I originally attended, The University of the Arts, shut down unexpectedly. Now, I am not going to dwell on that, we all know the story and have seen the articles and posts. I’ve felt my feelings, frustrations, and disappointments, I’ve reminisced, I’ve shed my tears. But what I will say is that I am grateful to have been able to attend such an amazingly, uniquely, creative institution and learn and grow and experience with the friends, educators, and mentors I got to meet through my three years there.
Although I only attended Temple for a year, I made some wonderful friends and connections along the way. It was a bit rough in the beginning and more-or-less a rollercoaster overall, but so was my entire colliegate experience, one big rollercoaster with frightening, confusing, and unexpected moments that helped me grow and uplifting, enlightening, and joyous moments that got me through the storms.
I am forever grateful to God for keeping me well of mind, body, heart, and soul despite all that would have the possibility to cause anything of the opposite, for putting me in the spaces that taught me how to move in future situations, and for instilling the strength and passion in me to push through and persevere and continue to do what I love!
I’m so extremely proud of all of us who graduated this Spring of 2025!! May we continue forward on our own paths of greatness!💕🎓
