Things I ate in Amsterdam that were not pancakes, Part 2: dinner at Choux.
This was one of the best meals I've had. I'm sorry the photos are bad, but I was too excited to eat, and I even missed two courses. But also Choux's Instagram has real pictures that are better than anything I could do on my phone.
1) sourdough and whipped butter
MISSING PIC) crispy phyllo shell with seaweed, cream, and herbs
2) Cauliflower, onion, and tempeh — I don't remember what the foam was, but it was a bit salty and fresh
MISSING PIC) Jerusalem artichokes mixed in a soft cheese with thin slices of pear and a celeriac consommé
3) Roasted maiitakes — I don't remember the cream but it was hearty and subtly salty
4) house made tofu and seitan skewers with charred kale, a cheese and potato cream, and a veggie gastrique
5) a brûlé cheese course!
6) blueberry sorbet with spruce and wild berries
7) and 8) my date at the top of the meal, waiting for food!!!
Post-holiday party devastation. I never remember to take pictures when the thing is happening, but here's some proof of the good time.
Happy holidays to all!
May photo dump (and a little June) from Snoqualmie > Malibu.

I had a wonderful birthday dinner last night, but in typical me fashion, I didn't take a single goddamn picture. Thankfully, @davidhermanfilm snapped this one!
That's an ube macapuno cake baked by @ry_cli , by the way. With 12 candles. Becuz I'm a tween.
Thanks everyone for enjoying an evening with me and for all the birthday wishes you sent on the socials and elsewhere. I'm a very lucky tween.
For those asking about the sweatshirt in the previous post, it was designed by @sebacuri . We bought one painting from him (1 and 2) and one from his wife @macarenaluzi (3 and 4). They hang across from each other on the top floor of our house!
One day, if we are rich, we will be collectors of theirs. For now, we're delighted with the work we have, and I encourage you to get some prints or paintings (unfortunately, I don't know that there's any more of the sweatshirt available).
