2026 marks for me nearly 18 years at the Music Box Theatre. Part time, then full time, wearing many different hats. Projecting movies, programming films, being a bee in everyone’s bonnet, crawling around in a ceiling still covered in coal dust, spending holidays and birthdays and elections in the booth. It’s been a long weird road. This photo is from 2011 when they first installed a digital cinema projector and server and I was pretty sure I was about to quit. I didn’t (obviously).
Looking forward to keeping down that weird road with more programming work (now with the ⭐️
@selmajezkova2.0 ), projection shenanigans, arguing about lobby carpets, and all that good life stuff.
2026 also marks 10 years with my
@chicagofilmsociety family. Programming, schlepping equipment, projecting, endless spreadsheets and meetings and pizza and arguing and boxes and boxes of films prints and the weirdest sometimes intolerable but also most beloved audience members on earth.
Movies. They’ll ruin your life! 🫡
