Six years ago I told the story of how, through a series of unfortunate events, I ended up celebrating the adorable @notjakefrmstatefarm ’s bachelor party by myself (but people following me probably know that - especially if you’re my therapist). The ensuing response was beyond exciting (and at times overwhelming - again ask my therapist). One thing I absolutely didn’t count on was that after reading my story, other people would be asking if they could re-tell my story, this time in movie form. What followed were rollercoaster years of false-starts and “almosts” which tested my patience (and on numerous occasions my sanity). It wasn’t until the incredibly talented @maddpaul32 put pen to paper (or more likely fingers to keyboard) and found a way to tell a story so much bigger than my 3 days of awkward sadness alone in Chicago (although that kinda is the plot…). She wrote an inspiring, original, and DAMN funny script which captured everything I had always hoped and more (read: she told my story better than me). I am beyond humbled by her work and cannot be more excited to find out that CHICAGO FOR ONE was named to the 2021 Black List of Hollywood’s Top Un-Produced Scrips. A huge accomplishment which has made me, my mom, and yes, my therapist, VERY proud. Now we just gotta make this thing… (Side note: This also could not have happened without @mzeigs , @marcmounier , & @cliffordmurray among others. More gushing later - today we celebrate!)

Yesterday my therapist told me that he believes l’m constantly eating not because I’m hungry, but because I’m bored, which makes sense (that’s why insurance subsidizes him the big bucks). So today I take on the Herculean yet necessary and logical task of guarding the fridge...from myself. Pulling double duty, this both gives me a job to keep my mind active as well as protect myself from overindulging. A proverbial “win-win” in an otherwise daunting predicament. The Pareto optimal solution. Bottom line: it should definitely keep me from being bored. That being said, I should probably grab a snack to keep myself sharp and aware. I am feeling a bit peckish. Just a quick bite to eat for a job presumed to be well done. Yeah...that seems smart.

Decided to hop on the bandwagon and start “puzzling” (which may or may not be a word). It seems appropriate given how I’m figuratively putting together the pieces of my life in this new normal. And when all the pieces don’t fit or something seems missing, I will continue to figure out ways to make it work...sometimes even better. The original puzzle didn’t have that mysterious eye-patched stranger fishing by the creek, but now that I’ve added him the scene-scape really comes together nicely. I wonder what his story is....he’s probably there for murder. Or love. Or maybe both! Either way, MUCH more exciting. Sure there are no popsicle carts, but in a lot of ways a quarantine beach day is even better than a real one! No wind to blow away my beachball. No sun to burn my delicately pasty skin. And best of all, the epsom salt water feels, smells, and tastes MUCH better than that boring old regular salt water. #TBT to my first ever experience with social distancing (although dare I say I’ve done a pretty great job of social distancing from social media for a while, which I guess would be social social distancing which is a whole new level of impressive these days - you’re welcome, Dr. Fauci).
