i made this video essay researching the lack of affirmation amongst brown women from the prompt “repair something that’s broken” given by RISD as part of their application process, but this became really personal to me and more than just a supplement of my application. this problem is really prominent in this specific community, and the solution i chose was interaction. while this tackles the broader issue of lack of affirmation, it also is a representation of me accepting my identity as a brown woman because i’m lucky enough to be surrounded by beautiful and affirming brown women who have shared experiences. thanks 2 all my sisters ( @ayqakha@nguanini@amisha.mango ) who helped me w this 🧚🏼🌸✨🧝🏽♀️🔮and ofc my actual sister @d.pika who helped me in making this exponentially better :D🤎
