A great day out in the field this week! During a site survey at a local park, the RVC team spotted an amazing variety of wildlife, including an American toad, a Red-eyed Vireo, a Goldfinch, and even an Osprey diving in an attempt to catch a fish. Moments like these are a reminder of how important healthy open spaces are for the wildlife that call them home. 🐸🦅🌿
Join us for a hands-on morning for landowners and nature lovers to learn how to recognize and manage invasive species and encourage native plants in support of wildlife habitat. The program includes a presentation from RVC ecologist and trustee Sharon Wander, a guided walk, lunch, and time to connect with others who care for fields and forests.

The RVC Wrenegades had an amazing time over the weekend during the 2026 New Jersey Audubon's World Series of Birding, spotting 136 species and helping raise $3,865.90 for Ridge and Valley Conservancy to protect the habitats these birds rely on.
Rare and exciting sightings included the Swainson’s Warbler, Red-headed Woodpecker, and White Ibis! Thank you to everyone who supported our team and helped make this year’s event a success. 🌿🦉

It was an honor to cheer on longtime RVC supporter Irene Dorzback, owner of the Ampersand Inn, at Scouting America’s Annual Sussex County Tribute to Women.
Irene was recognized as one of six outstanding women honored for serving as exemplary role models in our community. A powerful philanthropist herself, her acceptance speech reflected on the importance of connection in everyone’s lives, the kind of connection that builds stronger communities and reminds us that by supporting one another, we can uplift those around us.
Congratulations, Irene, on this well-deserved recognition!
If you haven’t yet visited the Ampersand Inn, this beautiful bed & breakfast in Andover is absolutely worth checking out.

A huge thank you to 21 incredible volunteers from the JCP&L Green Team (a subsidiary of FirstEnergy) who came out to Beech Ridge Preserve in Blairstown, NJ, to make a real difference! 🌱
Together, they planted over 270 trees and shrubs, generously donated by FirstEnergy, helping to restore an area impacted by beech leaf disease. We were also grateful to have 3 RVC volunteers join the effort!
Beech trees are a vital part of this preserve, and these new plantings will help replace what has been lost while supporting a greener, cleaner, and healthier environment for years to come.
We’re so thankful to these dedicated volunteers and to FirstEnergy for recognizing the importance of restoration and environmental stewardship. 💚
Thank you to the Branchville Rotary Club for inviting our Executive Director, Susi Tilley from Ridge and Valley Conservancy, to share more about our work. We’re especially grateful to see Rotary Clubs embracing environmental causes, something that means a great deal to us.
Susi was truly inspired by the many life-changing programs supported by the Branchville Rotary Club, including their efforts to help eradicate polio. We were also honored to learn they were recognized as Nonprofit Organization of the Year by the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce.
An inspiring group making a real difference! 🌍💙
